READ HERE: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is working hand-in-hand with Big Tech to influence conversations and police information online using potential terrorism as an excuse. The Intercept released an article, ‘Truth Cops: Leaked Documents Outline DHS’ Plans to Police Disinformation’, that is based on years of internal DHS emails and records and proves the US govt is actively policing information online. Earlier this year, the proposed Disinformation Governance Board, mockingly called the ministry of Truth, was announced and then shut down. However, the DHS is exploring other initiatives to police social media. Researchers found a special Facebook portal for intelligence agencies and law enforcement where they can make content moderation requests. The FBI and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) met with Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Discord, LinkedIn and even Wikipedia every month prior to the 2020 election and the meetings are still ongoing.
