{"id":12816,"date":"2020-04-30T08:38:58","date_gmt":"2020-04-30T12:38:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=12816"},"modified":"2020-04-30T08:41:49","modified_gmt":"2020-04-30T12:41:49","slug":"operation-covid-19-is-now-targeting-our-pets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=12816","title":{"rendered":"OPERATION COVID-19 is now targeting our pets!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>CDC Has New Social Distancing Guidelines For Pets<\/h1>\n<p><!--more-->Leah Barkoukis<br \/>\nTOWNHALL<\/p>\n<section id=\"article-media-object\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"article-main-image\" src=\"https:\/\/media.townhall.com\/townhall\/reu\/ha\/2018\/87\/fe69dd45-25c3-499a-860e-24d137655669.jpg\" alt=\"CDC Has New Social Distancing Guidelines For Pets\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"main-image-source muted\"><small><em>Source: AP Photo\/Bebeto Matthews, File<\/em><\/small><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"article-body\">The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has extended social distancing guidelines to pets.\u201cTreat pets as you would other human family members \u2014 do not let pets interact with people or animals outside the household,\u201d the agency said in an advisory\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/daily-life-coping\/animals.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a>. \u201cIf a person inside the household becomes sick, isolate that person from everyone else, including pets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While CDC acknowledged there is still much to be known about COVID-19, in some situations \u201cit appears that it can spread from people to animals\u201d although\u00a0\u201cbased on the limited information available to date, the risk of animals spreading COVID-19 to people is considered to be low.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We\u2019re still learning about how <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a> affects animals, but it appears that people can spread the virus to animals in some situations. Until we know more, limit contact with pets if you are sick or feeling sick.
