You don\u2019t,\u201d said the 24-year-old retired from the Tulsa Police Department and head of the department. said Dr. Mark Sherwood, a 10-year-old member of the SWAT team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wouldn\u2019t be surprised if some charges are filed\u2014even if the evidence hasn\u2019t been thoroughly examined,\u201d Sherwood said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIts time to be anxious, to say the least. You are coming to the tail end of the midterm primaries,\u201d Republicans prepare to reclaim both chambers of Congress, he said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4677197\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">Mark Sherwood, a veteran police officer, naturopath and Oklahoma candidate, said the FBI raid on Donald Trump\u2019s home in Florida was \u201cunprecedented.\u201d (Courtesy of Dr. Mark Sherwood)<\/figure>\n<p>As a former law enforcement officer, Sherwood issued multiple search warrants and knew the legal process for obtaining them.<\/p>\n<p>What he found \u201cextremely unusual\u201d was the FBI\u2019s decision to search the home of a former incumbent president, against all historical precedent.<\/p>\n<p>Sherwood told The Epoch Times that even the Watergate scandal that engulfed former President Richard Nixon or the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton did not inspire such unprecedented action.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know anything else in history\u201d that reaches the same level, he said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWhat we do not know is the total contents of the affidavit,\u201d Sherwood said, which was used to obtain the search warrant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know there has been a lot of discussion on which parts of the affidavit are to be issued. We don\u2019t know what is the reason for this boom\u201d which led to the 8 August raid.<\/p>\n<h2>Search warrant has \u2018extremely wide\u2019 scope<\/h2>\n<p>Sherwood said search warrants are specific and as a rule limited in their scope. \u201cIt must be so distinctive that no other residence can be\u201d [Trump\u2019s] in the world. It should also be very specific what you are looking for and where it is [located],<\/p>\n<p>Sherwood said the scope of the search warrant, signed by Florida Judge Bruce Rinehart, was \u201cextremely broad.\u201d Several Republican lawmakers accused the DOJ of running a \u201cfishing campaign\u201d to dig up objectionable evidence against Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat information is there that we don\u2019t know? There\u2019s a lot here. The question is, how much truth is there in the information out there? It\u2019s up for debate,\u201d Sherwood said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope this doesn\u2019t happen\u201d in relation to an alleged fishing expedition. \u201cIt would mean that the affidavit was completely false and the person who did so is guilty of perjury,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery law enforcement in the land has the potential to be compromised. No one in this country would want to believe that an entire agency has been compromised. (Giorgio Viera\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/figure>\n<h2>Political Backlash Brewing<\/h2>\n<p>Sherwood said he believes there may be \u201cabsolutely\u201d compromising individuals within the FBI, but hesitates to paint the entire agency with a broad brush.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t get to the point where the whole batch is screwed up. A local FBI branch office didn\u2019t make that decision.\u201d [to search Trump\u2019s home], \u201cYou\u2019re not doing that to know that political storm,\u201d Sherwood said.<\/p>\n<p>Federal investigators were allowed to search the \u201c45 Office\u201d all storage rooms and areas used by Trump and his staff for record keeping.<\/p>\n<p>The search warrant pertains to any classified government or presidential records created between January 20, 2017, when Trump took office, and January 20, 2021, when he left the White House.<\/p>\n<p>During the raid, federal agents confiscated a number of items, including Clemencey\u2019s executive grant for conservative political adviser and lobbyist Roger Stone, and information about French President Emmanuel Macron.<\/p>\n<p>They also seized a handwritten note, two photo binders, a leather box of documents, a possible presidential record and three passports.<\/p>\n<p>Trump also claims investigators took privileged legal documents and executive materials in boxes and opened a safe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGrabbing a passport that\u2019s probably not part of the search\u2014totally unfair, shouldn\u2019t be done. Never,\u201d Sherwood said.<\/p>\n<p>However, if there is clear evidence that law enforcement believes it is part of or connected to the investigation, \u201cthey can confiscate it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sherwood said he considered it \u201chighly irregular\u201d that investigators turned off surveillance cameras during the raid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf it were me, I would want the camera turned on to protect the integrity of what I am doing as an agent \u2013 \u200b\u200bas an officer,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Sherwood said federal agents did what they were taking without confiscating massive amounts of evidence.<\/p>\n<h2>issue of probable cause<\/h2>\n<p>What was the extent of the evidence used to obtain the search warrant?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s probably a trillion dollar question,\u201d Sherwood said. \u201cThe probable cause is the primacy of the evidence \u2013 51 percent of the crime would have been committed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is always based on what is presented before a judge. The question is whether the evidence presented is valid or not. That is where the real attack point is. It is not beyond a reasonable doubt. (Chandan Khanna\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/figure>\n<p>Sherwood questioned the Justice Department\u2019s timing of launching the raid nearly two years after Trump stepped down.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is unclear is what exactly is in the affidavit. [The DOJ] Maybe some of it is going to release.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sherwood said the media is primarily responsible for inciting fear and anger on both sides. However, the seeds of civil unrest began during the Obama administration and the 2020 riots.<\/p>\n<p>He warned against any new acts of violence that could undermine positive conservative gains.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the court of public opinion, it\u2019s a tough deal right now. In today\u2019s world, it doesn\u2019t take much time to provoke people over this issue,\u201d Sherwood said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of people are going to rally around it.
