Ever since the protests turned to riots over the death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis, rumors have flown that George Soros and his Open Society Foundation had to be involved. After all, OSF\u00a0funded Black Lives Matter<\/a> in 2015. It didn\u2019t take long to reveal the financial ties to current riots and to show that OSF and George Soros directly support the movement today. Particularly infuriating are the taxpayer-funded grants received in conjunction with the Soros funding.<\/p>\n Daniel Bice of the\u00a0Milwaukie Journal-Sentinel<\/em>\u00a0reports<\/a>\u00a0that a group called Freedom, Inc. has received grants from the Wisconsin Department of Justice:<\/p>\n The Madison-based nonprofit\u00a0has advocated for the release of all African Americans from jail and\u00a0the defunding of police departments. As for the current protests, the group\u2019s leaders say\u00a0\u201call actions against racist state violence are justified.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cStop murdering black people, and your glass will be safe,\u201d\u00a0Monica\u00a0Adams<\/strong>, co-executive director for Freedom Inc., said while leading the third day of police protests in the state\u2019s capital on Monday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThank all the youth freedom fighters who were in the streets fighting (Sunday) night and Saturday night,\u201d said\u00a0Mahnker Dahnweih<\/strong>, community power-building coordinator for Freedom Inc. \u201cEvery action is a contribution to liberation.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n So where does a group like this get the money it needs to promote its agenda?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n A lot of it comes from you.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Records show that the state has awarded contracts and grants worth $3.6 million to Freedom Inc., which advocates for minority and LGBTQ communities, over the past five years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n That includes $876,674 in federal grants awarded by the state Department of Justice since January 2019, when Attorney General\u00a0Josh Kaul<\/strong>\u00a0took office. The\u00a0state Department of Children and Families has paid out\u00a0$732,403 to Freedom Inc. under Gov.\u00a0Tony Evers\u00a0<\/strong>over the past 1\u00bd years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n Bice expresses righteous outrage over a radical group using taxpayer funding to advocate for the abolition of police forces altogether, and using that money to organize riots and looting:<\/p>\n State Sen.\u00a0Steve Nass<\/strong>, a Whitewater Republican, said he was concerned that state tax dollars may be going to help Freedom Inc.\u2019s \u201cradical\u201d political agenda. He called on\u00a0the governor and attorney general, both Democrats, to investigate.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThe taxpayers of Wisconsin should not be funding any group that supports rioting, looting and actions to terrorize citizens with street violence,\u201d Nass said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cGovernor Evers and Attorney General Kaul have the duty to determine that the grant funds they issued to this extremist group are not being used in any way to subsidize the street violence of the last several days.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n It wasn\u2019t just Nass, however, who was upset with Freedom Inc.\u2019s words and actions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n John \u201cSly\u201d Sylvester<\/strong>, a liberal radio talker for WIBA-FM (101.5),\u00a0went off on Adams and her group<\/a>\u00a0for blocking John Nolen Drive\u00a0in Madison for eight hours on Monday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cM. Adams, who wears an \u2018I hate pigs\u2019 tee-shirt, is calling for total elimination of our police force,\u201d Sylvester wrote on Facebook. \u201cShe also said your windows will be safe when we get our way. I am a fighter for all workers, that includes police officers.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n A dive into Freedom, Inc.\u2019s finances also reveals a direct link to OSF. One organization that has provided grants to Freedom, Inc. is Borealis Philanthropy.<\/p>\n\n
