Before any anticipated economic collapse or formal declaration of WW III occurs, the American hegemony continues to cling to every last vestige of power under the guise of opposition to TikTok.\u00a0 <\/span>As if professing the Federal Government\u2019s troth that it will protect Americans from foreign disinformation after having been subjected to intensive disinformation, propaganda, and censorship campaigns during Covid 19,\u00a0an elected cabal of Senators have introduced the most explicit unconstitutional totalitarian dissolution<\/span><\/a> of American civil rights and civil liberties since the Patriot Act<\/span><\/a> was foisted upon the American public in 2001.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n With\u00a0 <\/span>intention of harming America\u2019s most cherished traditions like repudiating the First Amendment, those who have metamorphosized into Bolshevik<\/span><\/a><\/span> ground troops are intent on abolishing the final remains of our Constitutional Republic with\u00a0 <\/span>S 686<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Restricting the Emergence of Security Threats that Risk Information and Communications Technology Act,<\/i>\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>aptly named the RESTRICT Act. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Led by Senate Intelligence Chair Sen. Mark Warner (D-Virg.) perennial overseer for CIA lawlessness and other nefarious agencies; thereby completing the unequivocal collapse of what is now recognized as an illusory vision of a once vibrant political system.<\/span><\/p>\n Also participating is an equally seditious band of perfidious Republicans, comfortably ensconced within the Uniparty as they drive the country into the chaos of nihilism, devoid of conscience or character, blind to the implications<\/span><\/a> of their own treacherous behavior.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Without Congress having received a classified briefing into the specifics of TikTok\u2019s invasive nature and its threat to national security, S 686 is not a credible legislative vehicle but is being utilized as a last gasp necessary to assure complete collapse of American culture<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Even the ACLU has come out of its self-imposed cloister to oppose a TikTok ban as the Biden administration demanded its owners to divest their stake<\/span><\/a> or face a U.S. ban while President Donald Trump’s attempts in 2020 to ban TikTok<\/span><\/a> were blocked by U.S. courts.<\/span> \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n While TikTok, a wildly popular social media app owned by Beijing-based ByteDance, S 686 allows the Commerce Department to\u00a0\u201cidentify, deter, disrupt, prevent, prohibit, investigate, or otherwise mitigate<\/i>\u201d \u2026that which \u201cposes an undue or unacceptable risk<\/i>\u201d identified as \u201ccoercive or criminal activities by a foreign adversary designed to undermine democratic processes and institutions or steer policy and regulatory decisions in favor of <\/i><\/span>the strategic objectives of a foreign adversary to the detriment of the national security of the United States<\/i><\/span>.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n That is a long winded way of asserting that S 686 would allow limitless authority to unelected bureaucrats with broad Executive Branch powers to anonymously designate new \u2018foreign adversaries<\/i>\u2019 without public or Congressional notification.\u00a0 <\/span>That designation would be without due process and yet require a joint Congressional resolution to overturn. In addition, S 686 is immune from FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requests, allows access to all digital data on every home digital device while VPN users may be detained without due process and fined $1 million with twenty years in prison including forfeiture of everything they own.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n There is, however, a more subtle and shrewd means for Chinese owned companies or any other nationality to represent a \u2018national security risk\u2019<\/i> to the American economy and its infrastructure rather than just a digital back-door for data retrieval.\u00a0 <\/span>It is the impact of foreign acquisition and investment on already established\u00a0<\/span> US<\/i> owned<\/i><\/span><\/a><\/span> iconic American businesses. \u00a0 <\/span><\/span>According to Yahoo Finance<\/span><\/a>, in \u201c2016, Chinese companies bought out more than 100 American companies, dishing out a total of more than $60 billion dollars. The 2016 total marks the sixth time in the last seven years that China has taken over at least 100 U.S. companies in a single year<\/i><\/span>.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Given the wide open definition that a \u2018foreign adversary\u2019<\/i> might ultimately include every country on the planet, has the Federal bureaucracy done the math on how many of those countries with US owned businesses are expected to eliminate the Dollar as its foreign trade currency or if the US economy finally disintegrates, what are the financial implications of failure by those foreign owned American businesses. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Some of the prestigious wholly \u2018owned\u2019 subsidiaries which retain their American identity for public relation purposes include General Electric, General Motors, AMC Cinema, Lenovo computers, Waldorf Astoria Hotels, Tesla with Elon Musk a 21.7% shareholder, Spotify, Reddit, Uber and Air bnb among others.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n As Speaker McCarthy meets with the President of Taiwan, promising increased arms<\/span><\/a> sales, it would be imperative for Congress to have a clear understanding of Chinese-Taiwan history<\/span><\/a> as well an understanding US \u2013 China<\/span><\/a> history before the US stumbles into another military blunder:\u00a0 <\/span>In 1949, Mao Zedung\u2019s CCP defeated Chiang Kai-shek\u2019s Kuomingtang nationalists which formed its own government on the historic Chinese island of Taiwan.\u00a0 <\/span>After which the US State Department<\/span><\/a><\/span>,<\/span> characteristically incapable of minding its own business, allowed tensions to escalate while China and Taiwan discussed reunification.\u00a0 <\/span>By 1971, China took its seat at the UN and by 1979 the US established diplomatic relations. \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n When the S 686 votes are counted, those Senators failing to support the Constitution include Twenty five co-sponsors of S 686<\/span><\/a>, many of the usual uniparty members including Senator Manchin* (D-W.Va.) and Republican Senators Boozman (Ark), Capito (W.Va.), Collins (Maine). Crapo (Idaho), Cramer *(ND), Fischer *(Neb.), Graham (SC), Grassley (Iowa), Moran (Kansas<\/span><\/a>), Romney* (Utah), Sullivan *(Alas.), Thune (SD), and Tillis (NC).\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n In addition, uniparty Republican Senators who are members of the Senate Commerce Committee who might, based on past performance, be expected to support S 686 in the Committee include Sen. Thune (SD), Wicker* (Miss.), Fischer* (Neb.), Moran (Kansas), Young (Ind.).\u00a0 <\/span>Those asterisked\u00a0 <\/span>* will be seeking 2024 re-election<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0 <\/span>Republican Committee Senators already opposed to S 686 include Sens. JD Vance (Ohio), Schmitt (Mo.), Budd (NC) and Lummis (Wyo.).\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Democratic Members of Senate Commerce Committee who will be seeking 2024 reelection include Senators Tester (Mont.), Sinema (Az.), Baldwin (Wisc.), Cantwell (Wash.) and Rosen (Nev.). \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n On a final note, how the Patriot Act came into being is instructive about how staunch authoritarian forces are to suppress freedom and liberty of the American population:\u00a0 <\/span>in September, 2001 soon after the 911 attack, Congress was under pressure to approve the Patriot Act when anthrax letters were sent through the US Postal Service.\u00a0 <\/span>Sens. Patrick Leahy (Vt.) and Tom Daschle (SD), who were both blocking the Act\u2019s approval, were\u00a0 <\/span>targeted as recipients of those letters.\u00a0 <\/span>According to RFK, Jr., it was later determined the anthrax used in the letters were<\/span> \u201cfrom a CIA lab in Fort Detrick, Maryland<\/span><\/a>\u201d <\/span>as a<\/span> scientist at the lab became a suspect who later committed suicide.\u00a0 <\/span>Dr. Fauci\u2019s bioweapon program at the Pentagon closed Fort Detrick due to a \u2018release;\u2019 as the bioweapon program moved to Wuhan, China<\/span><\/a> in 2002.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Renee Parsons\u00a0served on the ACLU\u2019s Florida State Board of Directors and as president of the ACLU Treasure Coast Chapter.
