Cuomo&#39;s disastrous nursing home order, The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine warned it was &quot;over-reaching, not consistent with science,&quot; &amp; &quot;beyond all, not in the least consistent with patient safety principles&quot;<br \/> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tynoxJfTFT\">https:\/\/t.co\/tynoxJfTFT<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4Q3kdjWhBR\">pic.twitter.com\/4Q3kdjWhBR<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic (@COVIDSelect) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/COVIDSelect\/status\/1273374968278106119?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 17, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Despite\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/saraacarter.com\/gov-cuomo-under-pressure-to-eliminate-no-cash-bail-laws-for-looters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cuomo\u2019s denial<\/a>, he did in fact order nursing homes to admit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/saraacarter.com\/1-million-tickets-requested-vp-pence-lists-covid19-safety-precautions-for-upcoming-rally\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">COVID-19<\/a>\u00a0patients in March, knowing that the elderly were one of the most at-risk populations. And, later, The Governor attempted to cover the order up, according to\u00a0<em>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/05\/27\/andrew-cuomo-nursing-home-order-deleted\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Daily Caller\u2019s<\/a><\/em>\u00a0Peter Hasson who reported last month that the order was mysteriously deleted from the New York State Department of Health\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Republicans, Stephanie, are playing politics. They don\u2019t want to talk about how they are now handling this COVID virus,\u201d Gov. Cuomo said.<\/p>\n<p>He added, recognizing that thousands of parents\u2019 and grandparents\u2019 lives were lost in New York as a result of the policy, \u201cYes, I understand that. And there are facts, let\u2019s look at the facts, right, rather than the political rhetoric. Yes, we had more people die in nursing homes than anywhere else because we had more people die.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Cuomo then blamed the Federal government who \u201cmissed the boat and never told us that this virus was coming from Europe and not from China. And January, February, March before they did the European travel ban, 3 million people came from Europe and brought the virus to New York and the Federal government didn\u2019t know and the Federal government and the CDC and all of them failed to handle this pandemic and warn this nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&quot;Republicans&#8230;are playing politics.&quot;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NYGovCuomo?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@NYGovCuomo<\/a> doesn&#39;t take responsibility for New York&#39;s nursing home deaths.<\/p>\n<p>He blames the federal response and calls the Congressional investigation a &quot;political charade.&quot; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/glKFU3lodz\">pic.twitter.com\/glKFU3lodz<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Washington Examiner (@dcexaminer) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dcexaminer\/status\/1275088857319346177?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 22, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo New York had more cases, more deaths, and more deaths and more deaths in nursing homes because that\u2019s who the virus affects,\u201d Cuomo explained. \u201cIt affects senior citizens, we know that. You look at any state and they had a tremendous number of deaths in nursing homes. It\u2019s all a political charade and it\u2019s an ugly one, frankly to talk about a number of deaths and suggest there was politics added.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Cuomo continued, saying that the number of cases of the virus \u201care still going up\u201d in states like Florida, Texas, and Oklahoma. \u201cLook in the mirror and say \u2018you know what, we were wrong, we\u2019re killing people unnecessarily by this irresponsible, reckless reopening. And it\u2019s not working for the economy either,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, along with several of his Republican colleagues, sent letters last week to Democratic governors, including Cuomo, who enacted the lethal policy, requesting that they provide answers as to why they evaded early warnings from the Center for Medicare &amp; Medicaid Services (CMS) to protect the elderly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe says it\u2019s just \u2018politics.\u2019 People lost parents &amp; grandparents. That\u2019s NOT just politics.
