Activists protesting Amazon\u2019s alleged union-busting and mistreatment of workers installed a guillotine outside of Jeff Bezos\u2019 Washington D.C. mansion Sunday.<\/p>\n

Videos on Twitter<\/a>\u00a0showed a guillotine set up alongside a sign reading, \u201cSupport our poor communities, not our wealthy men.\u201d The guillotine was widely used during the French Revolution to carry out executions and has been co-opted by the modern-day anti-capitalist movement, with some Bezos detractors sporting\u00a0earrings depicting his decapitation<\/a>\u00a0via guillotine.<\/p>\n

Another video<\/a>\u00a0featured a protestor shouting, \u201cWhen they become threatened, and we have no voice, the knives come out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bezos is the world\u2019s wealthiest person with an estimated net worth of over $100 billion.\u00a0His mansion<\/a>, a 27,000 square foot property housed in the former Textile Museum building, is worth $23 million and is the largest in the city.<\/p>\n

The flier for the event, marketed as a \u201cMarch on Jeff Bezos\u2019 House,\u201d took issue with former employee Chris Smalls\u2019 being \u201cfired and racially slandered.\u201d<\/p>\n

An Amazon spokesperson told Fox Business<\/a>\u00a0in April that said Smalls, who had organized a New York strike over workplace conditions during the coronavirus pandemic, was terminated for \u201cviolating social distancing guidelines and putting the safety of others at risk.\u201d Smalls had shown up on-site for a walkout after coming in contact with a coworker who had tested positive for coronavirus the week prior, the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

The flier also called for the abolition of police, prisons and Amazon, saying, \u201cAmazon works directly with the police to surveil us, stoking racist fears in the name of profit.\u201d<\/p>\n
