Jerry Nadler claims Antifa violence in Portland is a MYTH (VIDEO)<\/h1>\n<p><!--more-->RT.com<\/p>\n<p>Congressman Jerry Nadler has been raked across the coals by social media after insisting that there is no protester-instigated violence in Portland. The lawmaker has spearheaded efforts to discredit federal police in the city.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Democrat was approached by pundit and internet personality Austen Fletcher, who asked the House member if he\u00a0<em>\u201cdisavows the violence from Antifa happening in Portland right now.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThat\u2019s a myth that\u2019s being spread only in Washington, DC,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Nadler responded.<\/p>\n<p>Clearly amused by the lawmaker\u2019s answer, Fletched clarified:\u00a0<em>\u201cAbout Antifa in Portland?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cYes,\u201d<\/em> the NY representative shot back as he walked away.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/fleccas\/status\/1287538621445296128?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1287538621445296128%7Ctwgr%5E&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.rt.com%2Fusa%2F495954-nadler-antifa-violence-portland-myth%2F<\/p>\n<p>The popular political commenter then urged Nadler to <em>\u201clook online\u201d<\/em>\u00a0and watch videos about what\u2019s been happening in the Oregon city.\u00a0<em>\u201cThere\u2019s fires and riots. They\u2019re throwing fireworks at federal officers,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he said. The congressman hurried into a waiting vehicle without responding.<\/p>\n<p>For those who have been watching the nightly clashes in Portland, Nadler\u2019s denial seemed incomprehensible. Prominent podcast host and mathematician Eric Weinstein expressed exasperation over the lawmaker\u2019s comments.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe are willing to spend all credibility to defend what can be INSTANTLY invalidated. Who came up with this policy, why does it exist, and how is anyone able to maintain it without deviating from the script?\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he wrote, including a split-screen video showing Nadler\u2019s denial alongside the chaos unfolding in Portland.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Can someone please explain to me how this works?
