\u201cThis Lamborghini is swimming bro,\u201d\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0influencer Crypto Bitlord, as his sports car battled against heavy rain in Dubai on Tuesday.<\/p>\n He was among hundreds of crypto traders and enthusiasts who descended upon the\u00a0United Arab Emirates<\/a>\u00a0city this week for two cryptocurrency conferences:\u00a0Blockchain Life<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Token2049<\/a>.<\/p>\n Attendees had probably expected the dry, arid conditions synonymous with the Gulf desert. Instead they were met by some of the heaviest rain in Emirati history.<\/p>\n Along the border with Oman, 254mm of rain was recorded in less than 24 hours earlier this week – the most since records began in 1949.<\/p>\n Many traders and influencers were left unimpressed by the ordeal.<\/p>\n \u201cDubai is the worst city I\u2019ve ever been to and I\u2019m never willingly coming here again,\u201d\u00a0wrote<\/a>\u00a0one trader.<\/p>\n In a lengthy\u00a0post<\/a>, crypto influencer \u2018doitbigchicago\u2019 said the emergency door on his plane into Dubai was \u201cshaking\u201d, as the aircraft landed in \u201c3 feet of water\u201d. He said his suitcase was \u201cfloating down the runway\u201d.<\/p>\n He added that he attempted to live-stream the conditions in Dubai, until eight police officers were \u201ctrying to arrest me for live-streaming in public\u201d.<\/p>\n Middle East Eye couldn\u2019t independently verify the claims.<\/p>\n Another crypto investor and podcaster\u00a0wrote<\/a>: \u201cThis is the most dogshit thing I\u2019ve ever seen\u2026 0 police, 0 firefighters, 0 taxis – just yoloing the sea with a rental car after flight getting delayed by six hours.\u201d<\/p>\n Some conference attendees who couldn\u2019t get a ride to and from the airport were ready to go to extreme financial lengths.<\/p>\n \u201cWilling to pay $500-1000 USD for a ride from DXB to Palm Jumeirah,\u201d\u00a0wrote<\/a>\u00a0Bitcoin trader “Faded”.<\/p>\n
