reads Letter&#8217;s filing.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Underscoring this point, House lawyers say if McGahn&#39;s testimony yields more evidence of obstruction it could lead to &quot;new articles of impeachment.&quot; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/DXiEl0KXwL\">pic.twitter.com\/DXiEl0KXwL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Kyle Cheney (@kyledcheney) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kyledcheney\/status\/1209178161369497602?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 23, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The Democrats also argue that &#8220;McGahn\u2019s testimony is critical both to a Senate trial and to the Committee\u2019s ongoing impeachment investigations to determine whether additional Presidential misconduct warrants further action by the Committee,&#8221; adding that McGahn&#8217;s testimony may\u00a0<em>also\u00a0<\/em>be relevant to future legislation which may stem from the details of Trump&#8217;s conduct.<\/p>\n<p>And while DOJ lawyers acknowledged in a Monday brief that the legal fight over McGahn isn&#8217;t moot, the fact that the House Judiciary Committee moved forward with impeachment on a completely different matter removes the urgency to resolve their case.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The reasons for refraining are even more compelling now that what the Committee asserted \u2014 whether rightly or wrongly \u2014 as the primary justification for its decision to sue no longer exists,&#8221; wrote lawyers for the DOJ. The agency also argues that the Mueller impeachment investigation is over, when House lawyers and lawmakers have described it as ongoing and active, according to<em>\u00a0<\/em>the report.<\/p>\n<p>McGahn&#8217;s participation in House impeachment proceedings was blocked by the White House, which claimed &#8220;absolute immunity&#8221; for advisers.<\/p>\n<p>President Trump chimed in over Twitter following<em>\u00a0<\/em>the Monday court filing, quoting &#8220;Fox and Friends&#8221; host Brian Kilmeade, who said &#8220;now all of a sudden they are saying maybe we\u2019ll go back and visit the Mueller probe, which is absolutely unbelievable, and shows they don\u2019t care about the American public&#8217;s tone deafness&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8230;.the American public\u2019s tone deafness &#8211; &amp; it should be intolerable, because the American people have had it with this.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kilmeade?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@kilmeade<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/foxandfriends?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@foxandfriends<\/a>  The Radical Left, Do Nothing Democrats have gone CRAZY.
