First, there is the perfect scenario. I\u2019m talking about the scenario to make Trump Great Again:<\/p>\n
He narrowly escapes assassination. His enemies know he\u2019s going to win the election and they try to kill him but fail. Trump won\u2019t back away. He\u2019s a hero for America. A super-hero.<\/p>\n
Just one problem. When you assess the odds of a young kid with a rifle and scope on a roof top, under the pressure of knowing he\u2019s about to be killed by a counter-sniper\u2026<\/p>\n
\u2026somehow managing to put a round (on purpose or through luck) through the upper portion of Trump\u2019s ear, as Trump is moving\u2026<\/p>\n
And causing no damage to Trump\u2019s skull\u2026<\/p>\n
You come out with odds of a trillion to one. Against.<\/p>\n
Same odds if you want to say an errant shot somehow caused a piece of shrapnel to do the same limited perfect amount of wounding to Trump.<\/p>\n
You can take all this a step further. With a simple thought experiment.<\/p>\n
Take the 20 best snipers in the world.<\/p>\n
Set them up on a rooftop with the kid\u2019s AR weapon and his scope.<\/p>\n
Set up these snipers with the provision that they have just a few seconds to get off 7 rounds aimed at\u2026<\/p>\n
A dummy target 150 yards away. The dummy is shifting his feet and moving his head.<\/p>\n
The snipers are told to graze the right ear of the dummy and not cause damage to the dummy\u2019s head.<\/p>\n
How many rounds do you think will achieve this goal?<\/p>\n
None?<\/p>\n
That is correct.<\/p>\n
It would be like saying:<\/p>\n
\u201cOK boys, your job is this. See that man 150 yards away? He\u2019s wearing a gold wedding band. While he keeps moving his hand, you fire a round and take a chip out of that wedding band without causing serious injury to his hand\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
Never going to happen.<\/p>\n
In the wake of the JFK assassination, hundreds and hundreds of books appeared, many of them written by admirers of JFK, about how the official scenario explaining the murder was all wrong.<\/p>\n
But days after what happened to Trump at the Pennsylvania rally, most of his media allies are quite content to affirm a magic bullet caused the ear wound\u2026and God intervened to save Trump\u2026and that\u2019s that\u2026except for extreme Secret Service malfeasance.<\/p>\n
These Trump allies abhor any questioning of the magic round that grazed the ear of their hero.<\/p>\n
Divine intervention makes Trump a bigger hero.<\/p>\n
Whereas I think it\u2019s quite, quite reasonable to question a trillion to one shot.<\/p>\n
