Is this the best that the Durham investigation is going to do?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Ex-FBI Resistance Lawyer To Plead Guilty In Durham&#8217;s Trump-Russia Probe<\/h1>\n<p><!--more-->ZeroHedge.com<\/p>\n<p>Former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith will plead guilty to one count of making a false statement regarding his involvement in the agency&#8217;s actions against the Trump campaign during the 2016 US election, according to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/597c27d6642dcedae79838fa6cf5497a\"><em>Associated Press<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In November, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/11\/22\/us\/politics\/russia-investigation-inspector-general-report.html\"><em>New York Times<\/em><\/a>\u00a0revealed that Clinesmith was under criminal investigation for allegedly doctoring materials used to obtain\u00a0<em>renewals\u00a0<\/em>of the Carter Page surveillance warrant<strong>. We\u2019re not going to do anything inappropriate before the election. But we\u2019re not being dictated to by this schedule.<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Durham&#8217;s efforts were deemed a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/political\/doj-russiagate-probe-just-turned-criminal-investigation-nyt\"><strong>former criminal investigation<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0last October, which undoubtedly spooked many of the spooks involved in the operation against the Trump campaign.<\/p>\n<div class=\"twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered\"><iframe id=\"twitter-widget-1\" class=\"\" title=\"Twitter Tweet\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/index.html?dnt=false&amp;embedId=twitter-widget-1&amp;frame=false&amp;hideCard=false&amp;hideThread=false&amp;id=1187758670765006850&amp;lang=en&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.zerohedge.com%2Fpolitical%2Fdurham&amp;siteScreenName=zerohedge&amp;theme=light&amp;widgetsVersion=223fc1c4%3A1596143124634&amp;width=550px\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-tweet-id=\"1187758670765006850\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<div class=\"ad__wrapper-element\"><\/div>\n<p>By designating it a criminal investigation, Durham was granted the power to subpoena documents and witnesses, to impanel a grand jury, and to file criminal charges.<\/p>\n<p>Last April, Barr said that\u00a0<strong>he believed &#8220;spying&#8221; had taken place against the Trump campaign<\/strong>, and that he doesn&#8217;t buy former FBI officials&#8217; version of how the collusion investigation began.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The FBI\u2019s Crossfire Hurricane counterintelligence investigation into the 2016 Trump campaign was launched in July 2016 to investigate\u00a0allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential elections, including possible links between Russia and any political campaigns.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The investigation was taken over in May 2017 by then-special counsel and\u00a0former FBI Director Robert Mueller<\/strong>. By April 2019,\u00a0<strong>he concluded that the investigation\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/no-collusion-between-trump-and-russia-special-counsels-report-confirms_2886094.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">found no evidence<\/a>\u00a0to establish\u00a0that Trump or his campaign had knowingly conspired or coordinated with the Russian government<\/strong>\u00a0to sway the outcome of the election, although the Russian government was found to have\u00a0interfered in the 2016 election. &#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/barr-says-expect-development-on-durhams-crossfire-hurricane-probe-friday_3461276.html\">Epoch Times<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>On Thursday, Barr told Hannity that &#8220;if people crossed the line, if people involved in that activity violated criminal law, they will be charged.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And in July, White House chief of staff Mark Meadows said that he was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/trump-chief-of-staff-indictments-expected-from-durham-probe_3430422.html\">expecting criminal charges<\/a>\u00a0to result from Durham&#8217;s investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They spied on my campaign, which is treason. They spied both before and after I won. Think of that.
