“They [the Democrats] want three and a half-billion dollars for something that’ll turn out to be fraudulent \u2014 that’s election money basically. They want\u00a0$25 billion for the post office<\/a>,”\u00a0<\/strong>President Trump said.<\/p>\n
“Now, they need that money in order to have the post office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots. Now, in the meantime, they aren’t getting there. But if they don’t get those two items, that means you can’t have universal mail-in voting because they’re not equipped to have it.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
President Trump has been on a crusade,\u00a0criticizing the\u00a0fraud behind\u00a0mail-in voting<\/a>, calling it “rigged” and the “scandal of our times.”\u00a0<\/strong>Last month, he even suggested the presidential election should be\u00a0delayed<\/a>\u00a0due to the virus pandemic and the prospect of mail-in voting.<\/p>\n
Motherboard said the\u00a0dismantling of sorting machines was widespread, and\u00a0there was no clear answer behind their removal from\u00a0processing facilities.<\/p>\n
Motherboard identified 19 mail sorting machines from five processing facilities across the U.S. that either have already been removed or are scheduled to be in the near future.<\/strong>\u00a0But the Postal Service operates hundreds of distribution facilities around the country, so it is not clear precisely how many machines are getting removed and for what purpose.<\/p>\n
