Ron DeSantis announced he has signed an executive order assigning the case involving the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump to the Office of Statewide prosecutor, under the supervision of Attorney General Ashley Moody.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspect Ryan Routh, is believed of committed state law violations across multiple judicial circuits in the state: Palm Beach Judicial Circuit, the Judicial Circuit, including Martin County, as well as perhaps the Judicial Circuit represented by Broward County,\u201d DeSantis said.<\/p>\n<p>58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh appeared in federal court on Monday and is being charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person (convicted felon) and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, according to the initial\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/flvoicenews.com\/authorities-to-hold-4-p-m-press-conference-to-provide-update-on-trump-assassination-attempt\/\">complaint<\/a>. This guy was giving interviews to the New York Times. This guy was doing a lot of stuff \u2013 he\u2019s got a rap sheet, he\u2019s recruiting people to go fight there, he\u2019s talking about Taiwan,,\u201d DeSantis explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMan, we need answers on this,\u201d DeSantis said.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis went back and forth with a reporter over Florida seeking to file attempted murder charges against Trump assassination suspect versus the federal government.<\/p>\n<p>He\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/FLVoiceNews\/status\/1836038036695519256\">noted<\/a>\u00a0the federal government does \u201cnot have jurisdiction to bring an attempted murder charge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have the ability to pursue potentially life in prison under state law. He was then put into handcuffs.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/v\/9KfTRxdgq64FsScF<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Routh was asked by police if he knew why he was being stopped and he \u201cresponded in the affirmative,\u201d the complaint said.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint noted the license plate attached to the car had been reported stolen.<\/p>\n<p>A witness verified Routh as the same individual they saw entering the Nissan.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint said records indicate Routh\u2019s phone \u201cwas located in the vicinity of the area along the tree line described above from approximately 1:59 AM until approximately 1:31 PM, on September 15, 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2002, Routh was previously convicted of \u201cpossession of a weapon of mass death and destruction\u201d in North Carolina, the complaint stated.
