{"id":29783,"date":"2020-09-28T15:10:58","date_gmt":"2020-09-28T19:10:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=29783"},"modified":"2020-09-28T15:10:58","modified_gmt":"2020-09-28T19:10:58","slug":"was-trumps-former-campaign-manager-set-up-to-be-committed-via-the-baker-act","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=29783","title":{"rendered":"Was Trump&#8217;s former campaign manager set up to be committed via the Baker Act?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Brad Parscale made suicidal comments and had physical altercation with wife, she tells police<\/h1>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Ex-Trump campaign manager had 10 guns in the Fort Lauderdale home<\/h3>\n<p>Local 10 News<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 President Donald Trump\u2019s former campaign manager Brad Parscale had made suicidal comments about shooting himself in recent days, his wife Candice told police before\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2020\/09\/28\/former-trump-campaign-manager-brad-pascale-armed-barricades-self-in-fl-home-police-called\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">they took him into custody under the Baker Act<\/a>\u00a0at his Fort Lauderdale home Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-generated-key=\"AUTO_INCREASE1\">According to a report from Fort Lauderdale Police, Candice Parscale also had \u201cseveral bruises on both of her arms as well as scratches and bruising on her face\u201d which she told an officer she suffered a few days ago during a physical altercation with her husband.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Fort Lauderdale Police also released bodyworn camera footage of Parscale, 44, being taken down and cuffed. He\u2019s repeatedly heard saying, \u201cI didn\u2019t do anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">(<b>WARNING:\u00a0<\/b>Video below includes profanity)<\/p>\n<div class=\" mb-med yt\" data-oembed-type=\"youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"content\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CjAqS35D8ZU?feature=oembed\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p class=\"\">On Sunday afternoon, Candice Parscale called 911 and reported that her husband possibly shot himself in a suicide attempt at their home on Desota Drive in the upscale Seven Isles neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cCandace advised after a verbal altercation, Bradley manipulated his slide to the rear loading his firearm in front of her,\u201d the police incident report reads. (The report spelled her first name \u201cCandace.\u201d)<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cCandace immediately fled [the] residence and stated she heard a loud bang shortly after,&#8221; the incident report continued. \u201cCandace stated that they realized that Bradley did not shoot himself when they heard Bradley ranting and pacing around the residence and the dog barking franticly. However, they were concerned that Bradley might still try to shoot himself, due to him being in possession of several firearms and refusing to vacate the residence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Responding officer Timothy Skaggs said he made contact with Brad Parscale on the phone, trying to get him to leave the home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201c[Parscale\u2019s] speech was slurred as though he was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and he seemed to be crying,\u201d Skaggs wrote in his report. \u201cDue to his refusal [to] exit the residence on his own free will and his emotional state, crisis negotiators were requested.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Candice Parscale told police that her husband has been stressed out for the past two weeks and has made suicidal comments throughout the week about shooting himself, but that he had not made any suicidal comments that day. She said that her husband drinks and \u201csuffers from PTSD.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Ultimately, an officer named Christopher Wilson, who is a personal friend of Parscale\u2019s, helped get him out of the house, police say. Once outside, the 6-foot-8 Parscale was taken down by another officer who said he used a \u201cdouble leg takedown\u201d after Parscale didn\u2019t comply with commands to get on the ground.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Wilson wrote that \u201cBrad was drinking a beer and was clearly intoxicated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Police transported Parscale to Broward Health Medical Center under the Baker Act, which allows anyone deemed to be a threat to themselves or others to be detained for 72 hours for psychiatric evaluation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Authorities also took possession of 10 guns that Parscale had in the home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A statement sent Sunday by Trump\u2019s campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh said: \u201cBrad Parscale is a member of our family and we all love him.
