Ellis attorneys made the request in a notice of substitution of counsel filed on Nov. 20 (<a href=\"https:\/\/pacer-documents.s3.amazonaws.com\/147\/127057\/15517440455.pdf\">pdf<\/a>), noting that Boockvar would be represented by law firm Kramer Levin, Myers Brier &amp; Kelly, and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, until the end of legal proceedings.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad__wrapper-element\"><\/div>\n<p>This is not the first time Berke is to confront President Donald Trump\u2019s legal team, with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.com\/nationallawjournal\/2020\/11\/20\/kirkland-ellis-withdraws-from-trumps-pa-lawsuit-while-impeachment-star-barry-berke-subs-in\/?slreturn=20201020195539\">National Law Journal reporting<\/a>\u00a0that Berke served as special counsel to the House Judiciary Committee as it built its impeachment case against Trump.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The move to switch legal representation comes after Linda Kerns, a lawyer leading the Trump campaign\u2019s efforts to dispute the election results in Pennsylvania, complained to a federal court that she received an abusive voicemail from a Kirkland &amp; Ellis attorney, with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/lawyer-representing-trump-in-pennsylvania-placed-under-protection-after-threats-of-harm_3585988.html\">Kerns saying<\/a>\u00a0the message \u201cby any measure falls afoul of standards of professional conduct.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a response, Kirkland lawyer Daniel Donovan said he thought the call was\u00a0\u201cdiscourteous and not appropriate\u201d but disagreed with how Kerns had described it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>He said the company associate was \u201cacting unilaterally, in his personal capacity, without the knowledge or authorization of undersigned counsel or the firm.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kerns has been placed under official protection after allegedly being subjected to various forms of harassment, with a Nov. 18 filing (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.pamd.127057\/gov.uscourts.pamd.127057.168.0_1.pdf\">pdf<\/a>) saying she was \u201cthe subject of threats of harm, to the point at which the involvement of police and U.S. Marshals has been necessary to provide for her safety.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/lawyer-representing-trump-in-pennsylvania-placed-under-protection-after-threats-of-harm_3585988.html\">wrote on Nov. 16<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0<strong>she had \u201cbeen subjected to continuous harassment in the form of abusive emails, phone calls, physical and economic threats, and even accusations of treason\u2014all for representing the President of the United States\u2019 campaign in this litigation.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"ad__wrapper-element\"><\/div>\n<p>Kerns later sought permission to quit working on the case, and Judge Matthew Brann\u00a0allowed\u00a0her to be \u201cwithdrawn as counsel\u201d for the Trump campaign, according to a court filing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There have been reports of harassment targeting lawyers representing Trump in election-related legal challenges.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Trump campaign and Republican allies have filed several lawsuits in Pennsylvania, including challenging a deadline extension that allowed mail-in ballots received up to three days after Election Day to be counted, another alleging poll observers were kept too far away from vote counters and that Democrat-majority counties received preferential treatment, and another challenging Boockvar\u2019s deadline extension for absentee voters to provide missing proof of identification.<\/p>\n<p>___<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/markets\/law-firm-withdraws-representing-boockvar-against-trump-campaigns-pennsylvania-lawsuit\">https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/markets\/law-firm-withdraws-representing-boockvar-against-trump-campaigns-pennsylvania-lawsuit<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Law Firm Withdraws From Representing Boockvar Against Trump Campaign&#8217;s Pennsylvania Lawsuit by Tom Ozimek The Epoch Times, Law firm Kirkland &amp;
