Barr Comments ‘Twisted’ By AP, DoJ Says Not Done Probing Election Fraud<\/h1>\n

The Department of Justice (DOJ<\/a>) issued a statement on Tuesday in response to the backlash from an article by The Associated Press which quoted Attorney General William Barr saying that\u00a0\u201cto date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have effected a different outcome in the election.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cSome media outlets have incorrectly reported that the DOJ has concluded its investigation of\u00a0election fraud<\/a>\u00a0and announced an affirmative finding of no fraud in the election. That is not what the Associated Press reported nor what the Attorney General stated,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0a DOJ spokesperson said, according to CBS News reporter\u00a0Catherine Herridge<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Department will continue to receive and vigorously pursue all specific and credible allegations of fraud as expeditiously as possible.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Epoch Times reached out to the DOJ to confirm the statement but did not immediately receive a response.<\/p>\n

In its headline, The Associated Press twisted Barr\u2019s comment to suggest that the attorney general has passed final judgment on whether fraud occurred in the 2020 election.<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cDisputing [President Donald] Trump, Barr says no widespread election fraud,\u201d the wire service reported.<\/p>\n

But the AP\u2019s own article prefaced Trump\u2019s comment on the matter by saying that \u201cBarr told the AP that U.S. attorneys and FBI agents have been working to follow up specific complaints and information they\u2019ve received.\u201d<\/p>\n

Attorneys for the Trump campaign issued a response to Barr\u2019s comments, underlining that the many witnesses they are working with have not been contacted by the FBI.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith all due respect to the Attorney General, there hasn\u2019t been any semblance of a Department of Justice investigation.\u00a0<\/strong>We have gathered ample evidence of illegal voting in at least six states, which they have not examined. We have many witnesses swearing under oath they saw crimes being committed in connection with voter fraud. As far as we know, not a single one has been interviewed by the DOJ. The Justice Department also hasn\u2019t audited any voting machines or used their subpoena powers to determine the truth,\u201d\u00a0Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis, attorneys for Trump, said in a statement.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
