\u201cI was living and working in Silicon Valley at the time, and I had very close relationships inside of Facebook, Twitter, and Google, by nature of my last start-up company which was a digital advertising company,\u201d Torba explained, adding, \u201cI\u00a0got to see the evils of their business model for many years.\u201d The GAB CEO explained that because of the many relationships he developed within these big tech companies, he had \u201cinsider sources\u201d who warned him that \u201cthe rise of censorship was coming and was inevitable.\u201d<\/div>\n

Torba shared that he witnessed the manipulation of trending topics on Facebook, \u201cwhich a whistleblower from inside of Facebook leaked in May of 2016,\u201d explaining, \u201cAnd that is what really pushed me over the edge.\u201d<\/div>\n

\u201cThis whistleblower from Facebook admitted that they were actively suppressing conservative news, conservative topics, conservative sources, conservative stories from the trending topics product, which is used by billions of people every day as a source of news. They have since retired this process since the whistleblower came out,\u201d he explained.<\/div>\n

\u201cSo, that was really the impetus behind starting this. The left was saying if you don\u2019t like, go build your own\u2014so that\u2019s exactly what I did,\u201d Torba said.<\/div>\n

When Torba was asked what he sees happening right now in America, he responded: \u201cFree speech and the free flow of information has never been more important,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cWhat we\u2019re seeing in America right now is the rise of Communism\u2014plain and simple. If you study history, you can see many parallels of communist regimes that have risen up throughout history to what is happening right here in the United States of America, right now today.<\/div>\nTheir, I guess, impetus is critical theory, which is a demonic and toxic ideology that basically destroys everything around itself.\u201d<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nTorba blasted the big tech bullies for their part in the communist takeover of America, \u201cAnd anybody that criticizes this uprising, this oligarchy that we\u2019re seeing, this communist regime uprising that we\u2019re seeing from these billionaire elites who think that they own this country, that think that they run this country, is silenced, and that includes the president, that includes the 75 million Americans who support the president.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\nTorba explained that they were the first to have their apps pulled from Google and Apple. They were banned from Amazon like Parler, and they fought back by buying their own servers. Email companies have pulled their services from GAB, preventing them from communicating outside of their platform with users. The free speech network has also been banned from VISA, saying they cant\u2019 accept credit cards on their platform, including Paypal and other financial services.<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\u201cWe will build the free speech internet that is grounded in American law and First Amendment free speech protections for everyone around the world, if we have to do it from the ground up\u2014whatever it takes, we will get it done!\u201d<\/h2>\n
\u201cWe call them \u2018community members\u2019 Torba explained, as opposed to Facebook and Twitter, who dehumanize the people on their platform by calling them \u201cusers.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\nTorba explained that they are not funded by a billionaire or a venture capitalist firm, that their community members fund them. \u201cWe saw a spike last week after the Capitol protests,\u201d explaining that GAB witnessed 40 million people who visited the site this week and that they\u2019re getting 600-700K sign ups per day, calling it \u201cunprecedented,\u201d saying, \u201cWe\u2019ve never seen this type of growth in our history.\u201d He explained that people from all over the world are flocking to their platform to enjoy free speech, saying that they have a much better moderation policy than Facebook and Twitter.<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nGAB has 3 rules:<\/strong><\/h3>\n
1.We have no tolerance for threats of violence.<\/strong>\u00a0Torba explained how GAB monitors it\u2019s community members. \u201cWe have a decentralized army that are moderating their own groups,\u201d he said, adding that when community members see something that concerns them, they notify GAB, and we act accordingly.<\/div>\n2.No doxxing.<\/strong><\/div>\n3.No pornography.<\/strong><\/div>\n
