Benjamin de Rothschild, the chairman of the Edmond de Rothschild Holding S.A. company, has died.<\/p>\n
Rothschild, who headed the banking group for more than two decades, died at 57 at his home on Friday following a heart attack, the company said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is with deep regret and great sadness that Edmond de Rothschild Group announces the passing of Benjamin de Rothschild following a heart attack at his home in Pregny, Switzerland,\u201d according to a company\u00a0statement<\/a>\u00a0on Saturday. “The thoughts of the Group’s employees go out to his wife Ariane de Rothschild and his children, as well as to all his family and loved ones, to whom they extend their most sincere condolences.”<\/p>\n “Visionary entrepreneur, passionate about finance, speed, sailing and automobiles, wine enthusiast, Benjamin de Rothschild was also an active philanthropist, namely involved in developing innovation within the Adolphe de Rothschild Foundation Hospital,” it added. “With his unique character, Benjamin de Rothschild never ceased to transform and modernise his legacy, in line with the family’s values.”<\/p>\n The Swiss branch of the family\u2019s banking dynasty was created by Baron Edmond de Rothschild in 1953, according to\u00a0Bloomberg<\/a><\/i>. The sprawling business made them among the world\u2019s richest families.<\/p>\n As of the end of 2019, the company had slightly less than $200 billion in assets in 15 different countries.<\/p>\n
