SOUTH DAKOTA, January 20, 2020 (LifeSiteNews<\/a>) \u2013 A Republican lawmaker in South Dakota has filed a bill that would make it a criminal offense for medical professionals to assist in practices aimed at the attempted \u201ctransitioning\u201d of children from one sex to another.<\/p>\n Last Tuesday Rep. Fred Deutsch filed\u00a0House Bill 1057<\/a>, which he’s calling the Vulnerable Child Protection Act. If passed, it will make it a Class 4 felony for a medical professional to conduct several practices on children, including those who are emancipated, in an attempt to change or affirm the child’s \u201cperception\u201d of his or her sex \u201cif that perception is inconsistent with the minor’s sex,\u201d as reported by the\u00a0Sioux Falls Argus Leader<\/em><\/a>. In South Dakota, a Class 4 felony can result in imprisonment for 10 years.<\/p>\n The bill would prohibit any physician, surgeon, physician assistant, nurse, clinical nurse specialist, nurse practitioner, anesthetist, or medical assistant from conducting the following on children:<\/p>\n Deutsch said that he was introducing the legislation in order to protect children in South Dakota who are being hurt by such practices.<\/p>\n \u201cTo parents, I say, love your kids. Just love them, support them. That\u2019s what I’m trying to do with this bill: love South Dakota children.
