Cuomo Guilty Of Obstruction? GOP Rep Calls For Investigation Into Nursing Home Cover-Up<\/h1>\n

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s administration should be\u00a0investigated over possible obstruction of justice<\/strong>\u00a0after a Thursday revelation in the\u00a0New York Post<\/em>\u00a0that officials\u00a0purposefully concealed<\/a>\u00a0the death toll in New York nursing homes during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic<\/strong>, according to Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY).<\/p>\n

In a Friday appearance on\u00a0Fox News’<\/em>\u00a0“America Reports,” Zeldin, an attorney and Iraq war veteran, opined on the bombshell report that\u00a0Cuomo’s secretary, Melissa DeRosa, admitted to state lawmakers on a videoconference that the data was withheld out of fear the Trump DOJ would use it against them<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

REP. LEE ZELDIN: “I just want to say\u00a0that [Fox News senior meteorologist] Janice Dean has done a\u00a0fantastic job for many months, going back to last spring and\u00a0summer, to bring this issue to\u00a0light … AP\u00a0reported that\u00a0over 9,000 infected patients\u00a0were placed with healthy nursing home residents,\u00a0so as a result of\u00a0the deaths that came in the\u00a0weeks and the months following\u00a0this late March policy, this\u00a0mandate, there were a lot of\u00a0requests for information, for\u00a0data, for\u00a0numbers on nursing home\u00a0deaths and more, and then a\u00a0cover-up started.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

There were requests from the\u00a0feds to the state for\u00a0information on it,\u00a0and the state\u00a0wasn’t providing …\u00a0I believe, and my colleagues in\u00a0the New York congressional delegation believe and\u00a0many\u00a0others as well, that there should\u00a0be a an investigation into this …\u00a0There is an admission of what\u00a0could be obstruction of justice …<\/em><\/p>\n

The investigation is what you\u00a0need to do to determine who\u00a0specifically should be held\u00a0accountable from the criminal\u00a0justice standpoint. Obstruction\u00a0of justice seems to be admitted in what the New York Post\u00a0was\u00a0reporting late yesterday …\u00a0There are thousands of New York\u00a0seniors who passed away as a\u00a0result of this policy, and you\u00a0can’t look at this as data or\u00a0numbers.\u00a0It’s families like Janice’s and\u00a0so many others where they lost a\u00a0father or a mother or\u00a0grandmother or grandfather and\u00a0aunt and uncle and they’re\u00a0demanding accountability …<\/em><\/p>\n

There are a lot of Democratic state\u00a0legislators who are outraged over what happened, because regardless of any type\u00a0of relationship they might\u00a0have with the governor and his\u00a0office of their same party, it’s\u00a0their duty to represent their constituents … They don’t want\u00a0to be part of a cover-up …<\/em><\/p>\n
