Israel will soon allow \u2018Green Pass\u2019 holders who have taken the COVID-19 vaccine to access public spaces including sports events, restaurants and hotels while those who haven\u2019t had the shot will remain on lockdown.<\/strong><\/p>\n The two tier system will go into effect from Sunday onwards, when those who have had two doses of the vaccine or can prove they\u2019ve recovered from the infection will display the certificate on their phone which will allow them to resume normal life.<\/p>\n \u201cWith some 43 percent of Israeli citizens inoculated with at least one shot of the jab developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, the cabinet moved to permit malls, open-air markets, museums and libraries to reopen next weekend, gradually scaling back controversial restrictions brought in late December,\u201d reports\u00a0RT<\/a>.<\/p>\n However, for people who refuse to take the vaccine, lockdown will continue indefinitely, making taking the jab de facto mandatory.<\/p>\n Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged the remaining people aged over 50 who haven\u2019t taken the shot to get vaccinated.<\/p>\n \u201cIf those 570,000 people over 50 get vaccinated, it\u2019s not only the last lockdown, we\u2019ll be done with Covid, period\u2026 We\u2019re leading the world on vaccines; we\u2019ll be the first to emerge from the coronavirus,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Israelis who don\u2019t get vaccinated could see their identities put on a list by local authorities under a new proposal.<\/p>\n
