Home Depot co-founder\u00a0Ken Langone<\/a>\u00a0said Thursday that\u00a0\u201cFlorida is on fire\u201d thanks to\u00a0Gov. DeSantis\u2019<\/a>\u00a0ability to bring in new people and industries fleeing high-tax, COVID restrictive states like\u00a0New York<\/a> and California.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat this Governor\u00a0in Florida has done is first class,\u201d Langone said during an appearance on\u00a0\u201cMornings With Maria.\u201d<\/a>\u00a0\u201cHe knows how to run a state and he\u2019s doing it well, he does it with humility and he does it with thoughtfulness.\u201d<\/p>\n Langone said that while speaking with DeSantis, the Florida Governor joked that he was thinking about sending a campaign contribution to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo\u2019s campaign for helping to bring new business into Florida.<\/p>\n Langone explained that the restaurants in Florida are able to keep their stores afloat and that people were respectful of wearing masks and following COVID guidelines without negatively impacting businesses.<\/p>\n \u201cThe numbers speak for themselves\u201d he\u00a0added.<\/p>\n On January 14, former New York Stock Exchange Chairman Dick Grasso\u00a0told<\/a>\u00a0“Mornings with Maria” the mass exodus from New York City to Florida and Texas is due to financial incentives amid the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n “It’s heartbreaking to see what’s happened to New York City in particular,” Grasso, who resides in Florida, told host\u00a0Maria Bartiromo.<\/a><\/p>\n “Business is driven by economic incentives, and whether it’s Florida or Texas, these two states certainly have demonstrated to companies that they want their business… and they’ll do everything they can to incentivize their relocations,” Grasso added.<\/p>\n Grasso also praised DeSantis for balancing the health and safety of Florida\u2019s citizens with a need to reopen and keep businesses alive.<\/p>\n Home sales<\/a>\u00a0have doubled in some parts of Florida, and the state is brought\u00a0950 new residents in per day last year, The New York Times first\u00a0reported<\/a>, citing data from the International Sales Group’s summer\u00a02020 Miami Report<\/a>\u00a0and an August\u00a0report<\/a>\u00a0from\u00a0Douglas Elliman.<\/p>\n Florida’s 35-year average daily population growth sits at 777 domestic migrants, according to the Miami report.<\/p>\n FOX Business’ Audrey Conklin and Caleb Park contributed to this report.<\/em><\/p>\n ___ Florida on \u2018fire\u2019 amid NYC exodus, COVID pandemic: Home Depot co-founder Ken Langone Americans are flocking to Florida to take advantage of lower taxes and less restrictive coronavirus regulations By Nikolas Lanum FOXBusiness Home Depot co-founder\u00a0Ken Langone\u00a0said Thursday that\u00a0\u201cFlorida is … Continue reading
