Gov. Andrew Cuomo is a \u201ccriminal sexual predator\u201d who \u201cmust immediately resign\u201d over a former aide\u2019s\u00a0detailed sexual-harassment allegations<\/a>, a member of Congress from upstate New York said Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-Glens Falls) also said that \u201cany elected official who does not immediately\u00a0call for his resignation is complicit in allowing a sexual predator to continue leading the great state of New York.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stefanik\u2019s remarks came after Lindsey Boylan, now a Democratic candidate for Manhattan borough president, published an online essay in which she accused Cuomo of kissing her \u201con the lips\u201d without warning following a 2018 meeting in his Manhattan office.<\/p>\n

\u201cGovernor Cuomo has earned his title as Worst Governor in America, and now every New Yorker knows that he is a criminal sexual predator,\u201d Stefanik said in a prepared statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have served in Congress during the height of the #MeToo movement leading to resignations and retirements of my colleagues. Sexual harassment and sexual abuse in the workplace is not a political issue, it is about right and wrong. Governor Cuomo must immediately resign.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another member of New York\u2019s congressional delegation, US Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-Staten Island) echoed Stefanik\u2019s demand.<\/p>\n

\u201cI already called for Gov. Cuomo to resign over his mishandling of nursing homes, the [death toll] coverup, and for threatening Assemblyman Ron Kim,\u201d Malliotakis told The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese allegations are disgusting and, if true, are all the more reason why Cuomo needs to go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Malliotakis further demanded an investigation of Boylan\u2019s claims by the state Joint Commission on Public Ethics, adding that \u201cCuomo\u00a0appointees should recuse themselves so it is truly independent.\u201d<\/p>\n

State Sen. Alessandra Biaggi (D-The Bronx) also\u00a0tweeted about Boylan\u2019s accusations<\/a>: \u201cI have no doubt that this is true.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve witnessed similar behavior, and it\u2019s unacceptable,\u201d Biaggi added.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile the abuse lies mainly with the abuser, the abuse also extends to those who help keep it silent. They are complicit too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Assemblywoman Yuh-Line Niou (D-Manhattan) tweeted about Boylan, \u201cI believe her.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cImagine going to work every day with this kind of fear. I know what it is like.\u00a0 So many of us do. It must end,\u201d\u00a0Niou wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is never ok to normalize or accept predatory and abusive behavior.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cuomo\u2019s office didn\u2019t immediately respond to a request for comment, but he\u2019s previously\u00a0denied Boylan\u2019s allegations<\/a>\u00a0as \u201cjust not true.\u201d<\/p>\n
