Sen. Ted Cruz,<\/a>\u00a0R-Texas, argued on “America Reports<\/a>” Thursday that\u00a0President Biden<\/a>\u00a0“caused the border crisis we are seeing right now” through\u00a0his\u00a0immigration<\/a> actions during his first week in office.<\/p>\n

The Republican senator, who has recently\u00a0visited the southern border<\/a>, added the situation is “one example of\u00a0the extreme partisan failure” of the Biden administration.<\/p>\n

“Joe Biden made the strange\u00a0choice to pivot hard left,” he added.\u00a0“I think he is captive to\u00a0AOC<\/a>\u00a0[Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez] and\u00a0Elizabeth Warren<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Bernie Sanders.<\/a>”<\/p>\n

Biden has scrapped a number of former President Donald Trump’s policies, which included having asylum seekers remain in Mexico instead of staying in the U.S. while they wait for their cases to be heard. The moves have led to a record surge in migrants, including unaccompanied minors, that has strained capacity at immigration facilities in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

Cruz told “Fox & Friends<\/a>” on Wednesday he witnessed a manmade “humanitarian disaster and crisis<\/a>” during the trip he took to the southern border last week.<\/p>\n

Cruz said “this year, we have the worst\u00a0illegal immigration in 20 years \u2026 and it occurred when\u00a0Joe Biden became president and\u00a0it occurred because of decisions\u00a0he made.”<\/p>\n
