halftime show with Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, appeared to feature several children in cages.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer Lopez\u2019s 11-year-old daughter, Emme Maribel Muniz, crawled out of a cage before she joined her mother and began singing.<\/p>\n<p>In all, roughly a dozen children crawled out of cages as the song\u00a0<em>Born in the U.S.A.<\/em> pulsated throughout the stadium.<\/p>\n<p>Emme Maribel Muniz also sang her mother\u2019s hit song,\u00a0<em>Let\u2019s Get Loud<\/em>\u00a0during the cage scene.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe kids eventually joined Emme onstage and surrounded her as a backing choir, all in white sweatshirts with rhinestone American flags emblazoned across the front,\u201d Billboard\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/news\/super-bowl\/8549924\/jennifer-lopez-shakira-halftime-show-border-crisis-statement-kids-cages\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The display of children in cages, could be a reference to the Department of Homeland Security policy of separating\u00a0children at the border from their parents and\u00a0putting them\u00a0in areas sectioned off by expanded metal fences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn June 2018, President Trump\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2018\/06\/22\/klukowski-trump-executive-order-ending-family-separation-legal-congress-must-act\/\">signed<\/a>\u00a0an executive order to end child separation at the border, but the apprehension\u00a0of family units at the border have\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/assets\/documents\/2019-Mar\/bp-total-monthly-family-units-sector-fy13-fy18.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\">increased<\/a>\u00a0since then,\u201d Breitbart\u2019s Charlie Spiering\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/04\/09\/donald-trump-barack-obama-built-cages-children-crossing-border\/\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLopez and Shakira were recruited for the show by Jay Z shortly after he\u00a0announced\u00a0he would be\u00a0partnering\u00a0with the NFL on social justice efforts and helping it \u2018enhance\u2019 its entertainment offerings last year,\u201d the\u00a0<em>Hill<\/em>\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/blogs\/in-the-know\/in-the-know\/481126-jennifer-lopez-sings-born-in-the-usa-while-wearing-puerto-rican\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the time, the league had been getting push back from numerous celebrities, like Rihanna and Cardi B, and fans who were upset with how former NFL player Colin Kaepernick\u00a0was treated by the league following his on-field protests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jay-Z and Beyonce were seen\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/sports\/2020\/02\/02\/watch-jay-z-beyonce-sit-during-the-national-anthem\/\">sitting<\/a> during the national anthem at the Super
