Buttigieg Wins Iowa Delegate Count, But Bernie Tops Popular Vote<\/h1>\n

Former South Bend Mayor\u00a0Pete Buttigieg<\/strong>\u00a0won Monday’s Iowa caucus with\u00a026.9% of the state delegates<\/strong>, followed by Sens. Bernie Sanders in second\u00a0(<\/strong>25.1%<\/strong>)<\/strong>\u00a0and Elizabeth Warren in third\u00a0(18.3%)<\/strong>\u00a0according to Iowa Democratic Party (IDP) Chair Troy Price, after\u00a062% of statewide precincts were finally counted<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic ‘frontrunner’ if you believe national polls,\u00a0came in fourth at an embarrassing 15.6%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

That said,\u00a0Sanders won the popular vote\u00a0<\/strong>with 27,088 vs. Buttigieg’s 23,666.<\/p>\n

The results follow an embarrassing delay in reporting the Iowa caucus results was caused by a broken app developed by\u00a0ex-Clinton and Obama staffers<\/a>\u00a0and bankrolled by a billionaire\u00a0Buttigieg-backer<\/a>, the IDP released ‘the majority of the results’ from Monday night’s mayhem.<\/p>\n

After the controversial app from Shadow, Inc. failed miserably – preventing caucus site leaders from uploading the results at their locations, attempts were made to phone them in –\u00a0only to wait on hold for more than an hour<\/strong>. One caucus chairman of a precinct in Story County was\u00a0hung up on<\/strong>\u00a0as he attempted to report their results.<\/p>\n

“Well, Wolf, I have been on hold for more than an hour with the Iowa Democratic Party,” precinct captain Shawn Sebastian told\u00a0CNN<\/em>‘s Wolf Blitzer, adding “They hung up on me. They hung up on me.”<\/p>\n

The chaos was met by anger from the candidates’ campaigns – except Buttigieg, who declared victory and got out of dodge.<\/p>\n

Former Vice President Joe Biden – who appears to have suffered a\u00a0massive defeat<\/a>\u00a0based on preliminary estimates – effectively threatened to sue the IDP if they released the results before his campaign could see them. Bernie Sanders, meanwhile, reportedly sent 5 lawyers to meet with party officials\u00a0after he sent operatives to polling locations to gather independent counts.<\/strong><\/p>\n
