Last year, Fauci repeatedly undercut President Trump when he was working for the 45th president. And now he\u2019s all in for Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>In recent years, people on the left who lie and break the law \u2013 from the streets to the suites \u2013 have rarely been held accountable. One of them, in the opinion of many, is Dr. Anthony Fauci. \u00a0Fauci is more responsible than anyone else for promoting lockdowns, mask mandates, and experimental vaccines rather than inexpensive, effective treatments for Covid-19. While most conservatives have lost faith in \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/the-good-doctor-or-doctor-doom-anthony-fauci-is-not-an-easy-enemy-for-trump-to-have-12030248\">Dr. Doom<\/a>,\u201d it has seemed like he would never be held to account for what he has done or that he would ever be compelled to relinquish his lifelong, incredibly influential, and highly remunerative bureaucratic perch.<\/p>\n<p>But \u2013 keep your fingers crossed \u2013 that may be about to change. The serious unraveling of\u00a0 Fauci\u2019s undeserved reputation as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonchronicle.com\/opinion\/editorials\/article\/Editorial-Fauci-is-an-American-hero-trying-to-15662717.php\">an American hero<\/a>\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/andrewsolender\/2020\/07\/15\/amid-white-house-attacks-polls-show-dr-fauci-remains-nations-most-trusted-voice-on-covid-19\/?sh=2ceeb5b61ee2\">the most trusted voice on Covid-19<\/a>\u201d has finally begun.<\/p>\n<p>In the past several weeks, a number of things happened to alter the status quo Fauci-is-god spin. For months now, outlying reporting, from reputable sources \u2013 including whistleblowers like virologist\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theaustralian.com.au\/news\/latest-news\/chinese-defector-virologist-dr-limeng-yan-publishes-report-claiming-covid19-was-made-in-a-lab\/news-story\/36decb0c2bca253b696dec0cb665c970\">Dr. Li-Meng Yan<\/a>\u00a0who escaped from Red China \u2013 has maintained that the origin of Covid-19 was the Wuhan Institute of Virology. According to these sources, the virus was either a bioweapon or a horrific experiment that got loose by accident from the Wuhan lab. After being dismissed as a conspiracy theory, these possibilities to explain the coronavirus have now gained significant ground and gone mainstream.<\/p>\n<p>On May 2, Nicholas Wade, a 30 year veteran of the New York Times as a science writer and editor, published a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nicholaswade.medium.com\/origin-of-covid-following-the-clues-6f03564c038\">lengthy article<\/a>, \u201cOrigin of Covid \u2013 Following the clues,\u201d that examined and pretty much confirmed the hypothesis of the virus\u2019s creation in the Wuhan lab. Tucker Carlson at Fox News, who has the number one show on all of cable news, building on the work of his colleague Steve Hilton who\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theaustralian.com.au\/news\/latest-news\/chinese-defector-virologist-dr-limeng-yan-publishes-report-claiming-covid19-was-made-in-a-lab\/news-story\/36decb0c2bca253b696dec0cb665c970\">first reported on this subject<\/a>\u00a0last January, highlighted Wade\u2019s article on the origins of Covid-19 on Monday, May 10. Carlson added an emphasis on Fauci\u2019s role, noting Fauci\u2019s pushing masks and lockdowns. He wondered if this behavior was \u201ca cover for something else. Could it be that Tony Fauci is trying to divert attention from himself and his own role in the COVID-19 pandemic?\u201d<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.americanthinker.com\/images\/bucket\/2021-05\/229490_5_.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>Screenshot Tucker Carlson Tonight, Fox News Channel May 10, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"im_t\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/ssl-intgr-net\/tags\/7_201_9.gif\" width=\"0\" height=\"0\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That high profile line of inquiry let the cat out of the bag.<\/p>\n<p>The following day, Fauci was grilled by Republican Senators when he appeared at a U.S. Senate hearing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gain of function research in China and a possible U.S. role<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Even before Fox News\u2019s reporting one week ago, momentum for taking a serious look into Covid-19\u2019s origins was starting to build. In\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/global-opinions\/congress-is-finally-investigating-the-lab-accident-covid-19-origin-theory\/2021\/05\/06\/d7bfb0e4-aeaf-11eb-b476-c3b287e52a01_story.html\">an opinion piece<\/a>\u00a0in the Washington Post on May 6, \u201cCongress is finally investigating the lab accident covid-19 origin theory,\u201d for example, Josh Rogin took note of the developments and confirmed that \u201cIt is clear that the NIH and other U.S.\u00a0agencies don\u2019t want to have their activities investigated\u201d \u2013 most likely because of what might be revealed.<\/p>\n<p>The Wuhan lab conducted experiments involving \u201cgain of function\u201d research on viruses like the coronavirus basically to enhance them so they would be more deadly to humans. Gain of function is a\u00a0controversial form of study\u00a0that involves boosting the infectivity and lethality of a pathogen. It is the weaponization of the coronavirus. This is the kind of research that you would expect would come out of a place like Germany during World War Two.<\/p>\n<p>And Fauci, it appears, was allegedly a major supporter of this line of \u201cresearch.\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/stevehiltonx\/status\/1353543830918762497\">Documents<\/a>, including published scientific studies, and the accounts of those involved attest to the fact that \u2013 in Carlson\u2019s words \u2013 \u201cthose experiments [in China] were funded by American tax dollars. . .\u00a0 approved and directed by Tony Fauci in Washington.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Previously, these reports were to be found in the alternative media or on less prominent programs like Steve Hilton\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/video.foxnews.com\/v\/6227902415001#sp=show-clips\">The Next Revolution<\/a>\u00a0(Sunday nights on Fox News) or Stephen K. Bannon\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/warroom.org\/\">War Room: Pandemic<\/a>. Now, on May 10, they were trumpeted on the number one program on all of American cable news. And not only on Carlson\u2019s conservative opinion program: later that week, Fox News\u2019s daily signature\u00a0<em>news<\/em>\u00a0department program Special Report began airing a series of probing segments (including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/video.foxnews.com\/v\/6254104093001?playlist_id=930909819001#sp=show-clips\">here<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/video.foxnews.com\/v\/6254111044001?playlist_id=930909819001#sp=show-clips\">here<\/a>) on the origins of Covid-19.<\/p>\n<p>The allegations aimed at Fauci, based on a variety of records, are that his NIH Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases provided millions of dollars of U.S. government funding to a third party that used the money to help fund the deadly research at the Wuhan China lab. This action allegedly circumvented\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/osp.od.nih.gov\/biotechnology\/gain-of-function-research\/\">a prohibition\u00a0<\/a>of funding further gain of function research that was ordered by the Obama administration in 2014. Ultimately, it was this research \u2013 engineered as a bioweapon or resulting in an accidental release of the enhanced virus \u2013 that likely led to the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/video\/2021\/05\/11\/tucker_carlson_if_lab_leak_theory_is_true.html\">Carlson said on May 10<\/a>, \u201cMore than any other single American, Tony Fauci is responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When an article about his Monday broadcast was published at Fox News dot com,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/opinion\/tucker-carlson-anthony-fauci-let-the-coronavirus-pandemic-happen-why-isnt-there-a-criminal-investigation\">it was titled<\/a>\u00a0\u201cAnthony Fauci let the coronavirus pandemic happen. Why isn&#8217;t there a criminal investigation?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/transcript\/tucker-why-isnt-dr-fauci-investigated-for-his-role-in-covid-pandemic\">Carlson further asserted<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 in a summary of his program\u2019s reporting:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>For five years \u2013 from 2014 to 2019 \u2013 the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which Fauci runs, and has for decades, pumped money to a group called the EcoHealth Alliance. The gain of function research had been banned by the U.S. during that period, at the behest of the Obama Administration! The allegation now is that Tony Fauci. . .invoked that special exception in order to keep funding the Wuhan lab, and the deadly experiments that were going on there. The experiments that clearly went so wrong.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Fauci grilled on Capitol Hill<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, May 11, Fauci was one of the witnesses\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.help.senate.gov\/hearings\/an-update-from-federal-officials-on-efforts-to-combat-covid-19\">at a hearing\u00a0<\/a>of the\u00a0<em>Senate<\/em>\u00a0Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee on the government\u2019s Covid-19 response. Several of the committee\u2019s Republican members, notably Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), grilled Fauci on the subject of gain of function research and the NIH\u2019s possible role in funding it in China. It was video clips of Paul\u2019s challenges to Fauci, and Fauci\u2019s replies, that went viral and further established the subject as an important one.<\/p>\n<p>Fox News\u2019s reporting and the questioning of Fauci at the May 11 hearing could not be ignored by the MSM. As the Washington Post reported (and tried to spin) the story\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2021\/05\/11\/tucker-carlsons-gops-efforts-blame-fauci-coronavirus\/\">on May 12 in an article<\/a>\u00a0titled \u201cRand Paul and the GOP effort to blame Fauci for the coronavirus\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>For much of the past year, Republicans have decried lead government\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/coronavirus\/?itid=lk_inline_manual_2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coronavirus<\/a>\u00a0expert Anthony S. Fauci\u2019s prescriptions for mitigating the pandemic \u2014 including masks, social distancing and keeping society shut down.<\/p>\n<p>But increasingly in the past week, the effort has taken on a new flavor \u2014 with suggestions that Fauci might be personally to blame for the advent of the virus itself.<\/p>\n<p>There remain major questions about just how the virus emerged, including the idea that it somehow escaped a lab in the city of Wuhan, China, where the virus originated. The theory, which was once highly speculative and which was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/newsletters\/politico-nightly\/2021\/05\/05\/anthony-fauci-on-ending-the-covid-seesaw-492728\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">downplayed by top medical experts such as Fauci<\/a>, is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/global-opinions\/how-did-the-pandemic-begin-its-time-for-a-new-who-investigation\/2021\/04\/30\/e1a2e702-a9dc-11eb-8c1a-56f0cb4ff3b5_story.html?itid=lk_inline_manual_5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suddenly being<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/global-opinions\/congress-is-finally-investigating-the-lab-accident-covid-19-origin-theory\/2021\/05\/06\/d7bfb0e4-aeaf-11eb-b476-c3b287e52a01_story.html?itid=lk_inline_manual_5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">treated more seriously<\/a>, though there is no conclusive evidence either way.<\/p>\n<p><strong>But while some Republicans have criticized the initial dismissal of that theory as evidence of a lack of curiosity from the media and health officials about the origins of the virus \u2014 or even some kind of pro-China or anti-Trump bias \u2014 the theories about Fauci\u2019s complicity take things to another level.\u00a0<\/strong>[emphasis added.]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.americanthinker.com\/images\/bucket\/2021-05\/229492_5_.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>Dr. Anthony Fauci takes questions from Sen. Paul questioned Dr. Fauci during his allotted seven minutes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Sen. Rand Paul: Dr. Fauci, do you still support funding of the NIH funding of the lab in Wuhan?<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Anthony Fauci: Senator Paul, with all due respect, you are entirely and completely incorrect that the NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology. . . [note: it is likely that Fauci misspoke in this reply.]<\/p>\n<p>Paul: Do you support sending money to the Wuhan Virology Institute?<\/p>\n<p>Fauci: We do not send money now to the Wuhan Virology Institute.<\/p>\n<p>Paul: Do you support sending money? We did under your tutelage. We were sending it through EcoHealth. It was a sub-agency and a sub-grant. Do you support that the money from NIH that was going to the Wuhan Institute?<\/p>\n<p>Fauci: Let me explain to you why that was done. The SARS-CoV-1 originated in bats in China. It would have been irresponsible of us if we did not investigate the bat viruses and the serology to see who might have been infected in China.<\/p>\n<p>Paul: Or perhaps it would be irresponsible to send it to the Chinese government that we may not be able to trust with this knowledge and with this incredibly dangerous viruses\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>Fauci: I do not have any accounting of what the Chinese may have done, and I\u2019m fully in favor of any further investigation of what went on in China.\u00a0<strong>However, I will repeat again, the NIH and NIAID categorically has not funded gain-of-function research to be conducted in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.<\/strong>\u00a0[emphasis added.]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The full hearing transcript\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rev.com\/blog\/transcripts\/dr-fauci-cdc-director-testify-before-senate-on-covid-19-guidelines-transcript\">can be read here<\/a>. Sen. Paul\u2019s questioning of Fauci on gain of function begins 59 minutes and 43 seconds into the transcript.<\/p>\n<p>On May 12, Sen. Paul\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/rand-paul-dr-fauci-lied-congress-china-virus-research\">called Fauci a liar\u00a0<\/a>for his testimony the day before.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Sen.\u00a0Rand Paul, R-Ky., claimed on Wednesday\u00a0that Dr. Anthony\u00a0Fauci lied to Congress when he denied that the National Institute of Health was funding research at the controversial Wuhan lab.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would say what Dr. Fauci said yesterday was verifiably false,\u201d alleged Paul during an appearance on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/shows\/americas-newsroom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">America\u2019s Newsroom.<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>The plot thickens: China\u2019s plan to employ the coronavirus as a weapon was revealed in a 2015 publication<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A little over a week ago, the largest mainstream newspaper in Australia and the country\u2019s only national paper, The Australian, published an eye-opening article that has gained virtually no notice here. The paper\u2019s investigative reporter Sharri Markson reported that according to documents that she had obtained, leading Chinese Communist Party scientists floated the idea of a virus-based bio-weapon to take down the West \u2013 in 2015!<\/p>\n<h1>The Australian article,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theaustralian.com.au\/subscribe\/news\/1\/?sourceCode=TAWEB_WRE170_a_TWT&amp;dest=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.theaustralian.com.au%2Fnation%2Fpolitics%2Fchinese-military-scientists-discussed-weaponising-sars%2Fnews-story%2F850ae2d2e2681549cb9d21162c52d4c0&amp;memtype=anonymous&amp;mode=premium\">published on May 7<\/a>, was headlined \u201c\u2018Virus warfare\u2019 in China military documents.\u201d<\/h1>\n<blockquote><p>Chinese military scientists discussed the weaponisation of SARS coronaviruses five years before the COVID-19 pandemic, outlining their ideas in a document that predicted a third world war would be fought with biological weapons.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Australian article is behind a paywall but an editorial about it, \u201cCovid as biological war? China paper needs answers,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theaustralian.com.au\/commentary\/editorials\/covid-as-biological-war-china-paper-needs-answers\/news-story\/fc878ba201bb5f070c5c3b60a254298f\">can be read here<\/a>. In its article about the story, \u201c\u2018New Era\u2019 May Be Upon Us,\u201d the Daily Telegraph, another leading Australian newspaper,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailytelegraph.com.au\/subscribe\/news\/1\/?sourceCode=DTWEB_WRE170_a_GGL&amp;dest=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailytelegraph.com.au%2Fblogs%2Ftim-blair%2Fnew-era-may-be-upon-us%2Fnews-story%2F28e55811eeb8256bfaaf860400327c49&amp;memtype=anonymous&amp;mode=premium\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Forget the prospect of war with China. We may already be at war \u2013 but simply failed to recognise the weaponry.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.americanthinker.com\/images\/bucket\/2021-05\/229491_5_.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>Sharri Markson on SkyNews May 9, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Australian television picked up the story. On May 9,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/kuKPBur_TiI\">SkyNews Australia reported<\/a>\u00a0\u201cChinese document discussing weaponising coronaviruses provides \u2018chilling\u2019 information.\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.skynews.com.au\/details\/_6253329329001\">In the article<\/a>\u00a0about the television report:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Sky News host Sharri Markson has assessed \u201cchilling\u201d details from a document produced by Chinese military scientists, in which they discussed weaponising SARS coronaviruses five years before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Markson said the book was written by People\u2019s Liberation Army scientists and senior Chinese public health officials in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The documents describe SARS coronaviruses as heralding a \u201cnew era of genetic weapons\u201d and said they can be \u201cartificially manipulated into an emerging human \u2013\u00a0 disease virus, then weaponised and unleashed in a way never seen before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese-language paper is called \u201cThe Unnatural Origin of SARS and New Species of Man-Made Viruses as Genetic Bioweapons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe document also talks about the psychological terror that bioweapons can cause. It\u2019s chilling,\u201d Ms Markson said. . .<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe significance of this paper is that it offers a rare insight into how senior scientists at one of the PLA\u2019s [People\u2019s Liberation Army] most prominent military universities, where high levels of defence research were conducted, were thinking about biological research.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This development was reported in India, at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dnaindia.com\/world\/report-shocking-chinese-scientists-discussed-using-coronavirus-as-weapon-in-2015-covid-19-2889602\">dnaindia dot com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The executive director of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI), Peter Jennings, said the document is as close to a \u201csmoking gun as we\u2019ve got. I think this is significant because it clearly shows that Chinese scientists were thinking about military application for different strains of the coronavirus and thinking about how it could be deployed.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>The Epoch Times,\u00a0<\/em>which excels in covering otherwise underreported news from Asia,<em>\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/m.theepochtimes.com\/new-chinese-military-paper-on-weaponizing-coronaviruses-respond-with-defensive-decoupling-and-end-to-stem-cooperation-with-china_3808332.html\">reported the story on May 9<\/a><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The newly discovered Chinese military paper is titled \u201cThe Unnatural Origin of SARS and New Species of Man-Made Viruses as Genetic Bioweapons.\u201d Eighteen authors at the highest levels of China\u2019s military and academic hierarchy wrote the 263-page paper. It was obtained by DoS in May 2020 and independently authenticated by digital forensics specialist Robert Potter. Additional details of the paper will be published in Sharri Markson\u2019s September book on the origins of COVID-19, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.harpercollins.com\/products\/what-really-happened-in-wuhan-sharri-markson?variant=39302913753122\">What Really Happened in Wuhan<\/a>\u201d (HarperCollins).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As time goes on, inevitably the truth will out \u2013 in this case, thanks to Fox News, Nicholas Wade, Stephen K. Bannon, Sharri Markson, the Australian media, and many other uncorrupted truth-seeking sources. As Brian Kilmeade noted on Fox News Primetime on May 13, Covid-19 is \u201cThe biggest liability case in the history of man.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The battle for the real truth about Covid-19 has just begun \u2013 but fourteen months into the pandemic, there are finally some encouraging signs.<\/p>\n<p>Addenda: In response to the recent reporting from Australia, the usual left wing and mainstream media outlets, including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2021\/may\/14\/sharri-markson-exclusive-on-chinese-bioweapons-based-on-discredited-2015-book-of-conspiracy-theories\">The Guardian<\/a>, dissed the story. Predictably, as well, official sources in China responded.
