{"id":66176,"date":"2021-05-22T07:08:00","date_gmt":"2021-05-22T11:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=66176"},"modified":"2021-05-22T07:08:17","modified_gmt":"2021-05-22T11:08:17","slug":"unprecedented-no-confidence-resolutions-issued-by-14-cities-against-soros-backed-da-in-la-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=66176","title":{"rendered":"Unprecedented &#8220;No-Confidence Resolutions&#8221; Issued by 14 Cities Against Soros-Backed DA in LA County"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>14 Cities in LA County Issue No-Confidence Resolutions Against Soros-Backed DA<\/h1>\n<p><!--more-->By Vanessa Serna<br \/>\nThe Epoch Times,<\/p>\n<p>Fourteen cities in Los Angeles county have issued no-confidence resolutions against District Attorney George Gascon, claiming his reforms went too far.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/GettyImages-460211852-700x420.jpg?itok=ZnwaRbOV\" data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/GettyImages-460211852-700x420.jpg?itok=ZnwaRbOV\" data-link-option=\"0\"><picture><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/GettyImages-460211852-700x420.jpg?itok=ZnwaRbOV\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"300\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"ef72cd98-3320-4313-b5cc-b6335cd2ecd0\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/picture><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Diamond Bar\u2019s city council passed a no-confidence motion during its May 18 meeting, with some councilmembers wishing to address Gascon\u2019s perceived leniency to horrific crimes throughout the county.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cGascon\u00a0is making it less safe for our residents and businesses,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0Diamond Bar Mayor Nancy Lyon told The Epoch Times.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u201cHe\u2019s more concerned about the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-criminals\">criminals<\/a>\u00a0than the victims.\u00a0You can\u2019t do special enhancements on things like hate\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-crime\">crime<\/a>, elder abuse, child physical abuse, trauma, [or] human trafficking.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Lyon added, \u201cEven if they\u2019re 17-and-a-half-year-old and they committed a double murder and tortured people, they can\u2019t be tried as an adult\u2026 and he\u2019s no longer going to seek the death penalty in any case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The residents\u2019 response to the agenda item was \u201coverwhelming,\u201d Lyson said, adding she has never seen the community more involved. While most residents were in favor of the no confidence vote, a few voiced opposition to it.<\/p>\n<p>One Diamond Bar resident said council should vote against the notion, as Gascon\u2019s sweeping reforms were justifiable.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cThe common practice of conditioning freedom solely on whether an arrestee can afford bail is unconstitutional,\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>the speaker said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDA\u00a0Gascon\u2019s\u00a0policy encourages the use of diversion programs, which provide treatment rather than prosecution in jailing for many minor offenses.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The resident continued, \u201cPublic expense jails, prisons, and courts are not the best way to manage the root causes of many misdemeanors, we must step up the availability of community support services\u2026We must stop thinking that imprisoning people longer reduces crime or addresses issues that our society fails to address\u2026Depriving people of life and liberty after serving a sentence only keeps them from becoming productive members of society.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Conversely, some Diamond Bar residents who said they originally voted for Gacon expressed disappointment in the district attorney.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cWhile I voted for him initially his truth was really a lie and he proved it on his first day in office,<\/strong>\u201d a speaker said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c[We] did not elect him to destroy our system of justice.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The City of Manhattan Beach also voted in favor of no confidence for the district attorney on May 18.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe share the DA\u2019s desire for criminal-justice reform,\u201d Mayor Suzanne Hadley told The Epoch Times.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cOur Concern is that the DA is choosing not to enforce the law\u2014rather than tackle the necessary, difficult, and legislative work of true reform.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The no confidence votes from 14 cities came less than a year after the district attorney took office last December.
