Ron DeSantis signed a new law that will exclude biological males who claim transgender status from competing with the opposite sex in sex-specific athletic programs.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"entryid-embed\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/E_2aLkU-rHw\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Fairness in Women\u2019s Sports Act had been proclaimed dead by opponents after being shelved by Senate Republicans with just days left in the legislative session. But by joining Florida to a growing coalition of states that are moving to explicitly protect a fair playing field for female athletes, Gov. DeSantis has sent a message to the woke elite: attack us at your peril. While economic boycott threats might have worked against a single state, the strength of many state leaders standing together to defend women\u2019s sports is certain to neutralize the left\u2019s favorite playbook.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Florida is now the eighth state with similar language on the books.<\/p>\n<p>LGBT activists claim it\u2019s \u201cdiscriminatory\u201d to reserve female competitive sports for actual females, and conservatives argue that forcing girls to compete against boys deprives the former of recognition and scholarship opportunities that were originally instituted to advance girls academically and professionally. Further, scientific research indicates that testosterone suppression does not eliminate all the physical advantages that come with male physiology.<\/p>\n<p>In a paper published by the <em>Journal of Medical Ethics<\/em>, New Zealand researchers<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/transgender-athletes-have-intolerable-advantage-over-real-women-new-study-affirms\">found that<\/a> \u201chealthy young men (do) not lose significant muscle mass (or power) when their circulating testosterone levels were reduced to (below International Olympic Committee guidelines) for 20 weeks,\u201d and \u201cindirect effects of testosterone\u201d on factors such as bone structure, lung volume, and heart size \u201cwill not be altered by hormone therapy\u201d; therefore, \u201cthe advantage to transwomen (biological men) afforded by the (International Olympic Committee) guidelines is an intolerable unfairness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is only the latest in a string of actions DeSantis has taken that have pleased conservatives, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/desantis-calls-for-banning-leftist-critical-race-theory-in-florida-public-schools\">banning left-wing critical race theory from public schools<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/florida-gov-signs-bill-banning-schools-from-requiring-covid-vaccines\">forbidding \u201cvaccine passports\u201d that would coerce Floridians into taking a COVID-19 vaccine against their will<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/desantis-vows-to-pardon-any-floridian-charged-with-violating-local-covid-19-orders\">pardoning residents who violate local COVID-19 restrictions<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/04\/19\/ron-desantis-defunding-police-effectively-off-table-florida\/\">increasing penalties for rioting<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/florida-passes-bill-limiting-big-techs-power-to-silence-political-enemies-desantis-to-sign\">limiting social media giants\u2019 power to deplatform their political enemies<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/florida-gov-ron-desantis-signs-toughest-election-integrity-law-in-america\">signing an election law that strengthens signature verification for mail ballots and bans ballot harvesting<\/a>.
