Cancel Coke!!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h1>NC County Aims to &#8216;Cancel Coke&#8217; With Vending Machine Ban<\/h1>\n<div id=\"attachment_67762\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-67762\" src=\"http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/GettyImages-2848014.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"500\" class=\"size-full wp-image-67762\" srcset=\"http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/GettyImages-2848014.jpg 600w, http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/GettyImages-2848014-300x250.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-67762\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(Photo by Tim Boyle\/Getty Images)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>By Charlie McCarthy | NEWSMAX<\/p>\n<p>A North Carolina county is banning Coca-Cola vending machines from its office buildings due to the company&#8217;s politics.<\/p>\n<p>Surry County commissioners sent a letter to Coca-Cola saying they were banning the machines in county-owned buildings due to the Atlanta-based company\u2019s criticism of Georgia&#8217;s new voting laws.<\/p>\n<p>The commissioners voted 3-2 to ban the machines, according to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wral.com\/we-are-trying-to-cancel-coca-cola-nc-county-bans-coke-machines-in-office-buildings\/19706500\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WRAL<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Millions of Americans believe that the last presidential election was not held in a fair manner and that more voter fraud will occur in the future if elections are not more closely monitored and regulated,&#8221; wrote Eddie Harris, Surry County&#8217;s longest-serving commissioner.<\/p>\n<p>Harris, saying it was time someone spoke out against left-wing politics, told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wxii12.com\/article\/co-commissioner-upset-over-criticism-of-ga-voting-laws\/36570551\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WXII 12<\/a>\u00a0he hoped Surry County\u2019s action will spread across North Carolina. He added\u00a0the problem goes beyond Coke.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yes, we are trying to cancel Coca-Cola,&#8221; Harris told WRAL. &#8220;To use their tactics against them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Harris told WRAL the ban was a way to take a stand against &#8220;cancel culture,&#8221; and the idea that progressives are trying to silence conservative voices.<\/p>\n<p>In his letter, written under Surry County letterhead, Harris wrote the electoral process was &#8220;such a mess,&#8221; which is why the country needs better election security and voter ID laws to make sure &#8220;the right people&#8221; are voting.<\/p>\n<p>Harris told WRAL he accepted Joe Biden as president, but believed\u00a0conservatives &#8220;have a right to know what goes on in their elections.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Harris said the response to the Coke boycott mostly has been positive.<\/p>\n<p>At the moment, the Coke vending machines remain in Surry County office buildings. A spokesman for Coca-Cola Consolidated, a bottling company separate from Coca-Cola, said the company had reached out to commissioners in hopes of setting up a meeting to discuss the situation.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/06\/02\/north-carolina-county-bans-coca-cola-machines-over-left-wing-politics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a>\u00a0reported it was not clear how many vending machines were in official Surry County buildings. The county has roughly 73,000 residents.<\/p>\n<p>Surry County is located in the northwest section of North Carolina and borders Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>In early April, eight\u00a0Georgia Republican lawmakers said they wanted Coca-Cola products\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsmax.com\/politics\/georgia-coke-gop-voting-law\/2021\/04\/04\/id\/1016302\/\">removed<\/a>\u00a0from their offices after the corporation spoke out against the state&#8217;s new election law.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Given Coke&#8217;s choice to cave to the pressure of an out of control cancel culture, we respectfully request all Coca-Cola Company products be removed from our office suite immediately,&#8221; the Republicans wrote in a letter to In a letter to the \u00a0president of the Georgia Beverage Association.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Should Coke choose to read the bill, share its true intentions and accept their role in the dissemination of mistruths, we would welcome a conversation to rebuild a working relationship.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey publicly attacked Gov. Brian Kemp, R-Ga., for signing into law voting legislation Quincey declared as &#8220;unacceptable&#8221; and &#8220;a step backwards.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The legislation expands early voting opportunities, weekend early voting, and extends deadlines for absentee ballot requests.
