Austin Mass Shooting Leaves 13 Hospitalized – Gunman Still At Large<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Police on Saturday morning are still searching for the shooter or shooters who opened fire on a crowd along 6th Street at about 1:30am, which is the popular central avenue filled with bars and restaurants that turns to foot traffic only\u00a0during weekends.<\/p>\n

At least\u00a013 were hospitalized, with two said to be in critical conduction<\/strong>, amid the chaotic scene which appeared “random” and with few concrete details in terms of what happened and who was behind the attack.<\/p>\n

It appears police were overwhelmed by attempts to save victims, and that the mysterious shooter fled in the confusion and mayhem.\u00a0Interim Austin Police Chief Joseph Chacon\u00a0described<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0“Our officers responded very quickly.” He detailed:\u00a0“They were able to immediately begin life-saving measures for many of these patients, including applications of tourniquets; applications of chest seals and other types of first aid equipment.”<\/p>\n

“We do have two patients in critical condition,” he added. “We have a total of 11 people transported to one hospital, one was transported to a different hospital and one person reported to an urgent care clinic. So there is a total of 13 shooting victims.”<\/p>\n

“I’m happy to report no one has died,” the police chief said.<\/p>\n
