While India is dealing with\u00a0“scientists” allegedly lying and cheating over COVID cures<\/strong><\/a>, officials in the Indian state of\u00a0Uttar Pradesh<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0have\u00a0demolished a shrine dedicated to a coronavirus-inspired goddess,<\/strong>\u00a0reportedly due to concerns about dubious claims of health benefits linked to the unorthodox religious site.<\/p>\n

Last week, we saw The Indian Bar Association serve a legal notice (pdf<\/a>) on World Health Organization\u2019s (WHO<\/a>) Chief Scientist<\/strong>\u00a0Dr. Soumya Swaminathan on May 25, claiming that\u00a0she was \u201cspreading disinformation and misguiding the people of\u00a0India<\/a>, in order to fulfill her agenda\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0and sought to prevent her from \u201ccausing further damage.\u201d<\/p>\n

But, with “science” being questioned for its political bias worldwide,\u00a0residents of a village near the city of Pratapgarh constructed a temple allowing devotees to seek the healing powers of \u201cMother Corona\u201d as they battle the virus.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cVillagers collectively set up the temple with the belief that praying to the deity would definitely offer respite to people suffering from Covid-19,\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>one local told Indian news agency ANI.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As RT reports<\/a>, the shrine is composed of a mask-clad statue set behind a yellow backdrop. Devotees brought yellow flowers as offerings to the goddess, but were not allowed to touch the statue, according to local media reports.<\/p>\n
