{"id":72028,"date":"2021-07-03T12:51:15","date_gmt":"2021-07-03T16:51:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=72028"},"modified":"2021-07-03T12:54:50","modified_gmt":"2021-07-03T16:54:50","slug":"is-the-georgia-sos-really-serious-about-taking-over-the-countys-election-audit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=72028","title":{"rendered":"Is the Georgia SoS really serious about taking over the county&#8217;s election audit?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Georgia Secretary Of State Seeking<br \/>\nElection Takeover Of Fulton County:<br \/>\n&#8220;Enough Is Enough&#8221;<\/h1>\n<p><!--more-->by Jack Phillips<br \/>\nThe Epoch Times<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-georgia\">Georgia<\/a>\u00a0Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is pursuing the taking over of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-fulton-county\">Fulton County<\/a>\u2019s elections operations, claiming that the Atlanta-area county has habitually failed to count votes.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>\u201cI think people are saying enough is enough,\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Raffensperger\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsmax.com\/politics\/bradraffensperger-georgia-atlanta-secretary\/2021\/06\/30\/id\/1027059\/\">said<\/a>\u00a0during a Just the News podcast on June 30.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cI\u2019m tired of it, but so is everyone else who lives in the other 158 counties [in Georgia].\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"Advert_desktop__1J5vD Advert_tablet__3QEBr Advert_mobile__1rlLc Advert_placement__1I4yb Advert_align__N0_fw\"><\/div>\n<p>Raffensperger, a Republican who has been frequently criticized by former President Donald Trump after the 2020 election, stated that he will invoke Georgia\u2019s recent election integrity law that allows Georgia\u2019s Elections Board to take over elections operations in localities that have issues with counting ballots.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/georgia-absentee-700x420.jpg?itok=LTaBq2CZ\" data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/georgia-absentee-700x420.jpg?itok=LTaBq2CZ\" data-link-option=\"0\"><picture><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/georgia-absentee-700x420.jpg?itok=LTaBq2CZ\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"300\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"f551210a-0dc8-4872-9155-d3c57bd185df\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/picture><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The law, SB 202, was approved by the Georgia state Legislature and signed into law earlier this year. The Department of Justice announced last week that it will file a civil rights lawsuit against the measure.<\/p>\n<p>Raffensperger was asked during the podcast about whether he would recommend that the Elections Board take over Fulton County by using the law.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cYes is the answer to your question,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWith SB 202, habitually failing counties can\u2014actually the state election board can come in and replace the election director and really take over the governance of that.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Raffensperger also noted that he sought the ouster of a top Fulton County elections official, but the county declined to do so.<\/p>\n<p>During the podcast interview, Raffensperger cited a report released by elections monitor Carter Jones in June that detailed alleged irregularities at a Fulton County vote-counting center in November 2020.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWhat [Jones] said was it\u2019s all this mismanagement,\u201d he said, noting that<strong>\u00a0county \u201cmismanagement\u201d and \u201cdysfunction\u201d erodes the public\u2019s trust in the election system and \u201creally lends itself to conspiracy theories.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSo it needs to be fixed. It\u2019s our largest county.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Representatives from Fulton County didn\u2019t respond to a request for comment by press time.<\/p>\n<p>His announcement comes in the midst of an investigation into Fulton County election forms regarding ballots\u2019 chain of custody that allegedly went missing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amid claims that Fulton County can\u2019t \u201cproduce all ballot drop box transfer documents,\u201d Raffensperger said in a June 14 statement that his office is investigating the matter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Other counties that have failed to follow the state\u2019s rules and regulations regarding drop boxes are also being reviewed, he said.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for Fulton County at the time appeared to dismiss the reports,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/mkt_app\/georgia-to-investigate-after-fulton-county-official-says-election-forms-are-missing_3858979.html\">telling<\/a>\u00a0The Epoch Times that officials\u00a0\u201cfollowed procedures for the collection of absentee ballots from Fulton County drop boxes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe maintain a large quantity of documents and researching our files from last year to produce the ballot transfer forms.
