From\u00a0Fox News, “Pentagon Releases Religious Exemption Guidelines for Bypassing Mandatory Vaccine”<\/a>:<\/p>\n The Pentagon on Tuesday released guidelines for how service members could request a religious exemption in lieu of getting the coronavirus vaccine.<\/p>\n By mid-September, all active-duty forces in the military will be required to get shots in their arms to counter the coronavirus as cases continue to once again increase nationwide.<\/p>\n “There is a religious exemption possibility for any mandatory vaccine, and there’s a process that we go through to counsel the individual both from a medical and from a command perspective about using a religious exemption,” Pentagon press secretary\u00a0John Kirby said Tuesday.<\/a><\/p>\n Kirby said military service members who wish to seek an exemption will be required to be counseled by a medical professional and a commander over the risks posed by not receiving the vaccine.<\/p>\n In addition, they will discuss how the decision could affect their deployability, travel, or even assignments \u2013 though the request processes will differ in each branch.<\/p>\n “We take freedom of religion and worship seriously, in the military, it’s one of the things that we sign up to defend,” Kirby said. “And so it’s something that’s done very carefully.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n “There are exemptions for mandatory vaccines for medical reasons as well, Kirby said, including pre-existing medical conditions,” the DoD reported.<\/p>\n “The primary care physician will be able to help make that determination,” Kirby said.<\/p>\n Religious exemptions have been expanding in the military lately so do not let them intimidate you into going against your conscience.<\/p>\n
