Renters said they filed a complaint with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services when the landlord, Santiago A. Alvarez, refused to back down on his mandate.<\/p>\n<p>Alvarez controls 1,200 rental units in Broward and Miami-Dade counties. He also ordered all of his employees to get vaccinated or be fired. It\u2019s not clear whether a landlord can legally evict tenants who refuse vaccinations. One person who said they were vaccinated still objected to the comply-or-move edict: \u201cThat should be illegal,\u201d the person told the Sun Sentinel. \u201cYou can\u2019t force people to do what they don\u2019t want to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Santiago\u2019s attorney said in a memo that the policy doesn\u2019t violate discrimination laws or Florida Gov.
