Chinese-style surveillance is coming to a neighborhood near you. From drones barking orders at park-goers to tracking people\u2019s movements through mobile phones, governments all over the world are now rushing to embrace sophisticated surveillance tools. This engineered pandemic allowed governments around the world to subdue most of the population into submission assuming unprecedented control over their citizens\u2019 daily lives in \u201dresponse\u201d to the coronavirus.<\/p>\n

Democracies and dictatorships alike have closed borders, imposed quarantines, shut down much of the economy, and implemented a variety of testing, tracing, and surveillance regimes\u00a0in order to contain the infection<\/a>. Those that acted fastest and adopted more stringent measures have been most successful. Leaders who denied, dissembled, and delayed are responsible for thousands of preventable deaths.<\/p>\n

A crisis need not lead to a permanent expansion of government powers\u2014as long as the public remains vigilant.<\/p>\n

In times of crisis, international human rights law allows all governments to temporarily limit certain rights\u2014by means of travel restrictions and social distancing rules, for example\u2014as long as the restrictions are strictly necessary, proportionate, and nondiscriminatory. Some governments, however, are trying to use the coronavirus pandemic to silence critics, expand surveillance, and entrench their rule. Whether they succeed will depend on whether the public understands that this would only increase the likelihood and severity of future public health disasters.<\/p>\n

Censorship restricts the free flow of information that is so essential in recognizing and effectively responding to health threats. Surveillance that fails to protect privacy discourages voluntary cooperation, a prerequisite for any successful public health initiative. Checks and balances on executive power\u2014an independent legislature, judiciary, media, and civil society\u2014ensure that governments serve the public\u2019s welfare rather than their own political interests.<\/p>\n

In short, the pandemic makes it clear that human rights should be upheld not only out of principle but for powerful pragmatic reasons as well. If the public appreciates these reasons, sufficient pressure can be put on governments to prevent them from profiting from tragedy. If not, we will find ourselves in a world with both greater risk of disease and less regard for human rights.<\/p>\n

On March 14th, 2020, President Donald Trump declared a national state of emergency to contain the virus, COVID-19, and to bolster the economy in trying times. For nearly one year and a half America has lived by a whole new set of rules when it comes to\u00a0stopping the spread of the pandemic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Many Americans went out of their way to accommodate restrictions and even lockdowns. Of course, these initial lockdowns were not without consequence. We saw business and mental health in America take the brunt of this decision.<\/p>\n

We know that story. The story most Americans want to hear is what was the government doing behind closed doors to\u00a0prepare for an event like<\/a>\u00a0this and how are they using this pandemic to track us and destroy our freedoms?<\/p>\n

How They Track Us<\/h2>\n

Unfortunately, the government and its many agencies, state and federal, have been long building infrastructure to track Americans. In fact,\u00a0many Americans were being tracked before the pandemic. This state of emergency and subsequent fallout gives the government greater reach and capability.<\/p>\n

About seven-in-ten Americans (72%) believe that all, almost all,<\/strong>\u00a0or most of what they do online or while using a cellphone is being tracked by advertisers, technology firms, or other companies,<\/strong>\u00a0according to the\u00a0June 2019 survey<\/a>. Close to half of Americans (47%) said the same about their online activities being tracked by the government.<\/p>\n

While\u00a0most freedom-loving people<\/a>\u00a0get a little nervous about things like contact tracing, it\u2019s likely your face, fingerprints and maybe even your personal messages and emails exist in a database without your permission. A government database.<\/p>\n

The DOD has ABIS. This is its automated biometric identification system. We are talking about a database that is growing by 20,000 people a day and already houses the faces, fingerprints, palm prints, and irises of 6 million people!<\/p>\n

Now this system was designed for military operations overseas, but this is a state of emergency we are dealing with, right?<\/p>\n

With agencies like the NSA and the FBI holding BILLIONS of records, messages, and emails of private citizens it is no wonder the government has been intent on controlling the narrative about the pandemic.<\/p>\n

Of course, this type of tracking tech is not just limited to big brother.<\/p>\n

Back in 2012, the NYT published a piece with the help of the ACLU that private cellphones were being tracked by state and local law enforcement, without a warrant!<\/p>\n

That was nearly a decade ago! Imagine what the state is capable of now and in the face of contact tracing or tracking the vaccinated, well, why not pinpoint your location using one of the 400,000 cell towers in the nation.<\/p>\n

Government Social Media Complex<\/h2>\n

There is no more terrifying example of government overreach and tracking than in the relationship with big tech.<\/p>\n

Not only can social media be used to distort and manipulate the narrative, but it also shuts down free speech in the public arena without coming directly from the government!<\/p>\n

With an Apple or Google phone in everyone\u2019s pocket, the government can now simply ask their big tech buddies about your week and where you traveled.<\/p>\n

You are constantly tracked by your phone, in fact, Google will send you a report about where you went this week!<\/p>\n

From the government\u2019s standpoint, contact tracing by using the information from your phone, well, that is just what must be done to stop the virus from getting worse.<\/p>\n

Tracking Vaccine Recipients<\/h2>\n

Not a day goes by that we do not hear about vaccination dates and the percentage of people vaccinated versus those not vaccinated. Well, the only way they can know this data is by knowing the information of those who have been vaccinated.<\/p>\n

When they know who has been vaccinated and by which dose, they can \u201creach out\u201d to let you know you need another dose or that you are due for your booster.<\/p>\n

Vaccine Passports, Papers and Tech<\/h2>\n

In places like New York City and San Francisco, people already have to show proof of vaccination before entering certain restaurants and public events. This is not a simple trend. In fact, it was the ACLU, again, that recently penned the following quote:\u00a0There\u2019s a Lot That Can Go Wrong With \u2018Vaccine Passports\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n

This is from an article that tried to flesh out how to better pursue the \u201cshowing of papers\u201d in order to gain access to certain avenues of society.<\/p>\n

The disproportionate access to vaccines and desire to be vaccinated in minority communities is already creating the worst-case scenario as they are the ones being denied access to dining establishments and other services.<\/p>\n

Strangely, it\u2019s an old story playing out again in America with a new setting.<\/p>\n

While you might not agree with the ACLU on much, or maybe you do, it is clear the handling of this virus, the tracking of American citizens, and the potential for radical tyranny has more than just preppers taking a second look!<\/p>\n

The question for preppers is:\u00a0What Comes Next?<\/p>\n

There are a few big-ticket items that you will have to grapple with in the future as we get further down this path in our America that seems to be in a perpetual state of emergency.<\/p>\n

Tyranny Abroad<\/h2>\n

The UK is in yet another lockdown while they have yet to recover from round one. France is having protests over vaccine mandates and COVID response. Canada has been basically a totalitarian state for anyone who dares meet for things like church or decides to speak against the narrative. I am talking arrest and jail time!<\/p>\n

On August 29th the Australian Parliament passed \u201cIdentify and Disrupt\u201d which gives the Australian Federal Police and CIC the ability to copy delete and modify content on individuals\u2019 online accounts! They will be able to impersonate the account holder and send communications at their discretion!<\/p>\n

This is just another of many unbelievably draconian efforts that the Australian Parliament has put in place to turn a once-great nation into a police state.
\nMany other nations like China and Iran have taken strong measures to control the population, too.<\/p>\n

Will America fall in line like the rest of the world? Will the government strongarm the people here, too? We know it started, but for now, we still have our 2nd Amendment. The Australians sold all their guns to the government in 1996 and 2003, this is what they got in return!<\/p>\n

Our battle with the pandemic is far from over. While the number of deaths going up to give us all pause and hopefully garners prayers for an end to those dying from this plague born in China but with no world repercussions.<\/p>\n

Lately, I find myself both praying for those we have lost, and the families left behind. I also wonder if our rights as sovereign men and women will become a casualty of this virus, too! The scope of government intervention grows and grows without hesitation.<\/p>\n

Are we being given a choice between stopping the virus and being a free people? Or is it just a poorly constructed plan built on an ideology of \u201cBY ANY MEANS NECESSARY\u201d that has turned our response to the pandemic into such a disaster.<\/p>\n
