And along with 50,000 of his fellow Irishmen, Cunningham picked up a weapon and started in uprising against Great Britain.<\/p>\n<div class=\"Advert_desktop__1J5vD Advert_tablet__3QEBr Advert_mobile__1rlLc Advert_placement__1I4yb Advert_align__N0_fw\">\n<aside id=\"in-content-video\" class=\"Advert_verticallySpaced__wnPy3\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/21841313772,21778456762\/zerohedge\/in_content_video_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>Their rebellion was a complete disaster; the rebels hoped that the British army was too weak to resist after their defeat in the American Revolution.<\/p>\n<p>But within a few short months the British had regained tight control of Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>Naturally their first order of business was to round up all the remaining rebels\u2014 and Cunningham was among them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>His punishment was being shipped off to a British penal colony in the south Pacific, in a place that was generally known at the time as \u201cNew Holland\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Today we call it Australia.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cunningham wasn\u2019t one to accept his fate easily. Even while en route to Australia, he and other prisoners briefly managed to take over the ship\u2026 though British marines eventually regained control and gave Cunningham 100 lashes.<\/p>\n<p>But Cunningham still wasn\u2019t finished. A few years later in March of 1804, he led about 300 Australian prisoners in yet another rebellion against their British jailers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"Advert_tablet__3QEBr Advert_mobile__1rlLc Advert_placement__1I4yb Advert_align__N0_fw\">\n<aside id=\"in-content-1\" class=\"Advert_centered__2tRj9 Advert_verticallySpaced__wnPy3\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/21841313772,21778456762\/zerohedge\/in_content_1_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>That rebellion was so severe that the British governor was forced to declare martial law\u2014 the first, but certainly not the last time in Australia\u2019s history this would happen.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s ironic that, each year, \u2018Australia Day\u2019 is celebrated on January 26, which commemorates the day that the British Navy first sailed into Sydney Cove, hoisted their flag, and declared the land their penal colony.<\/p>\n<p>So Australia Day does not celebrate the birth of a nation so much as the ribbon-cutting of a giant prison.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clearly in 2021, Australia has simply been returning to its roots as the world\u2019s largest prison.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/humanrights.jpg?itok=vYC4g4Wm\" data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/humanrights.jpg?itok=vYC4g4Wm\" data-link-option=\"0\"><picture><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/humanrights.jpg?itok=vYC4g4Wm\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"261\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"61de3067-b76f-456d-b640-62d0b1ec29b8\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/picture><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"Advert_tablet__3QEBr Advert_mobile__1rlLc Advert_placement__1I4yb Advert_align__N0_fw\">\n<aside id=\"in-content-2\" class=\"Advert_centered__2tRj9 Advert_verticallySpaced__wnPy3\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/21841313772,21778456762\/zerohedge\/in_content_2_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>You know the story by now\u2014\u00a0<strong>\u201ctwo weeks to control the spread\u201d of COVID-19 became \u201cindefinite dictatorship and total suspension of basic human rights.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Over the course of the last 18 months, Australia\u2019s state and federal governments have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Banned citizens from leaving the country without permission.<\/li>\n<li>Banned citizens\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sovereignman.com\/trends\/cia-goes-full-woke-in-new-recruiting-campaign-32161\/\"><u>from entering the country<\/u><\/a>, with threat of five years in prison.<\/li>\n<li>Banned citizens and residents from crossing state borders.<\/li>\n<li>Banned citizens and residents from traveling further than 5k from home without permission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ironically, an Australian government website lays out citizens\u2019 \u201cright to freedom of movement\u201d and says that this very basic human right \u201ccannot be made dependent on establishing a purpose or reason for leaving.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But Australia doesn\u2019t have to follow its own rules, nor care about the human rights of all the little people, because it\u2019s an emergency.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In the name of COVID Australian police and government officials have also:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"Advert_tablet__3QEBr Advert_mobile__1rlLc Advert_placement__1I4yb Advert_align__N0_fw\">\n<aside id=\"in-content-3\" class=\"Advert_centered__2tRj9 Advert_verticallySpaced__wnPy3\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/21841313772,21778456762\/zerohedge\/in_content_3_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Tracked a large fast food order to a party\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sovereignman.com\/trends\/leaving-tire-marks-on-the-road-is-now-a-hate-crime-28260\/\"><u>to fine guests $26,000<\/u><\/a>\u00a0for an unauthorized gathering.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sovereignman.com\/trends\/delta-variant-throws-the-world-back-into-orwellian-autocracy-33184\/\"><u>Deployed the military to enforce lockdowns<\/u><\/a>. Deployed helicopters to threaten young healthy men playing soccer.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sovereignman.com\/trends\/uk-to-issue-vaccine-passports-to-people-in-the-placebo-group-33122\/\"><u>Told people not to talk to their neighbors.<\/u><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sovereignman.com\/trends\/australian-town-executes-rescue-dogs-because-of-covid-33338\/\"><u>Executed several dogs<\/u><\/a>\u00a0to prevent rescue workers from coming to the town.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sovereignman.com\/trends\/zip-a-dee-doo-dah-not-inclusive-enough-for-disney-28824\/\"><u>Arrested a pregnant mom<\/u><\/a>\u00a0in front of her kids for posting about an anti-lockdown rally on social media.<\/li>\n<li>Refused to grant a travel exception to a three year old boy visiting his grandparents separated from his parents for months, because of a surprise border closure.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sovereignman.com\/trends\/when-government-incompetence-and-overreach-turns-deadly-28899\/\"><u>Caused a newborn infant to die<\/u><\/a>\u00a0because the mother was denied permission to travel across state borders for medical care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is also now illegal to plan, publicize, or participate in protests.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The right to peaceably assemble and hold public protests against unjust government actions is enshrined in the Western legal tradition. But for organizing protests against the Australian government\u2019s tyranny, Anthony Khallouf has been sentenced to several months in prison.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>His \u201ccrimes\u201d include not complying with COVID decrees, and \u201cencouraging the commission of crimes\u201d\u2014 that is, sharing information about the time and location of protests.<\/p>\n<p>He is a political prisoner, like many of his forebears.<\/p>\n<div class=\"Advert_tablet__3QEBr Advert_mobile__1rlLc Advert_placement__1I4yb Advert_align__N0_fw\">\n<aside id=\"in-content-4\" class=\"Advert_centered__2tRj9 Advert_verticallySpaced__wnPy3\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/21841313772,21778456762\/zerohedge\/in_content_4_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>But at least Philip Cunningham was imprisoned because he engaged in actual violence.<\/p>\n<p>Khallouf, on the other hand, was found guilty of\u2026 illegally crossing Australian state borders.<\/p>\n<p>That hasn\u2019t stopped the protests however.<\/p>\n<p>Thousands of Australian construction workers, for example, protested because they refuse to be coerced into vaccination against their will.<\/p>\n<p><strong>They actually were peaceful protestors. For real. They literally sang the national anthem.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yet police pepper sprayed them and fired rubber bullets into the crowd of thousands (which included children).<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps even more diabolical is that the government restricted the media from showing footage of the event as it was happening, and restricted airspace to prevent media helicopters from filming.<\/p>\n<p>That didn\u2019t stop people on the ground from recording it with their phones.<\/p>\n<p>In one exchange, a protestor filmed a police officer agreeing,\u00a0<em><strong>\u201cI\u2019m just as over this fucking [lockdown] as you are,\u201d but, \u201cwe get paid to do this [fire on peaceful protestors] mate\u2026\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I\u2019m just doing my job. I\u2019m just following orders.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Other police were caught on video going door-to-door to ask residents if they planned to attend, or knew of any planned protests.<\/p>\n<p>They asked one homeowner if he is on any social media platforms, but declined to tell him why they targeted that particular address.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s really crazy is that this authoritarianism goes beyond COVID hysteria.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Australia\u2019s parliament has passed a new bill eradicating Australians\u2019 right to digital privacy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s called \u201cSurveillance Legislation Amendment (Identify and Disrupt) Bill 2021.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It gives the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) sweeping new powers to not just surveil Australian citizens online, but also take over and run their online accounts, lock the actual user out of the account, and add or delete data.<\/p>\n<p>The police never have to notify a person that their account has been hacked by the government.<\/p>\n<p>What they are calling \u201cwarrants\u201d actually do not always require an actual court or judge to sign off.<\/p>\n<p>An \u201cemergency authorisation,\u201d allows police to bypass the courts entirely. And why should anyone be concerned about that?
