General Milley, the US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff also attended the ceremony. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nato.int\/cps\/en\/natohq\/news_185870.htm\">Source<\/a>.)<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>\u201cUS Sovereignty\u201d: NATO Takes over Norfolk Naval Base<\/h2>\n<p>by Renee Parsons<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalresearch.ca\/us-sovereignty-nato-takes-norfolk-naval-base\/5756585\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GlobalResearch.ca<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Some Americans may be unaware that efforts to create a sovereign country in the New World began a century before our Founding Fathers fought a revolution to give form to that desire.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Without fully understanding its long term implications or its ultimate impact upon the entire planet, the American colonists knew instinctively, as if directed by divine guidance, that in order to free themselves from the strangling yoke of the British Empire, they had the right, the duty to establish their own country based on natural law, to define their own borders, to create their own laws and their own authority.<\/p>\n<p>Little did those Founders of what became the greatest country in the world realize they had birthed the essential concept of national sovereignty as a self-governing ideal for an American Republic which would then become the motivation for many\u00a0 countries around the world to emulate.<\/p>\n<p>The rest, as they say, is history.<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward two hundred years as US sovereignty is threatened today at multiple levels.\u00a0 In what may be another chapter in the formation of a New World Government, the question remains how NATO asserted its omnipotent authority to establish a new Atlantic Command at the Norfolk Naval Base with the apparent acquiescence of the US military and Congressional leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Once the largest naval port in the world, significant questions persist about how the Pentagon allowed this travesty against the Republic to occur with what appears to have been a black-out of national media attention, no Congressional scrutiny and no Trump Administration participation. I am still wrapping my mind around how easily the usurpation of an American military facility of such prominence could be so quietly accomplished with such finesse requiring so many accomplices.<\/p>\n<p>Stepping back to May, 2017 newly elected\u00a0<strong>President Donald Trump<\/strong>\u00a0first met with NATO leaders in Brussels.\u00a0 He wasted no time by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/president-trump-pushes-nato-members-161450059.html?fr=yhssrp_catchall\">questioning NATO\u2019s relevance<\/a>\u00a0and asserting that \u201c<em>Twenty-three of the 28 nations are still not paying what they should be paying and what they\u2019re supposed to be paying for their defense,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Trump said. \u201c<em>This is not fair to the people and the taxpayers of the United States.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In January, 2018, seemingly out of the blue, the city of Norfolk \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.norfolk.gov\/AgendaCenter\/ViewFile\/Minutes\/_01232018-806\">adopted an ordinance<\/a>\u00a0to accept a donation of three traffic signs.\u00a0 Those signs acknowledged Norfolk as Home to the North American NATO Headquarters.\u00a0\u00a0 For some residents that may have come as a shock but city documents reveal that Norfolk has been \u2018home\u2019 to the only North American headquarters for the North Atlantic\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.realhistorychan.com\/nato.html\">NATO<\/a>\u00a0since 1953.\u00a0 By early 2018, NATO sought to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.norfolk.gov\/DocumentCenter\/View\/36420\/R-01-Approving-donation-from-the-North-Atlantic-Treaty-Organization?bidId=\">\u2018formalize\u2019<\/a>\u00a0the details with the donation and a letter of acceptance.<\/p>\n<p>Yet it was not until six months later in June, 2018 that NATO\u2019s North Atlantic Defense Ministers formally adopted the Alliance\u2019s command structure to establish a new Atlantic Command in Norfolk as the only operational NATO Atlantic Command in North America.\u00a0 As one of three regionally focused joint, operational-level commands, all Commands would\u00a0<strong>report directly to the Supreme Allied Commander Europe.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In other words, what was once the US Navy\u2019s largest and most sophisticated naval base in the world and on US soil would now be under the command of NATO.\u00a0 Yet there is no real substantive background to know exactly how the United States agreed to relinquish its historic naval claim on Norfolk.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_72503\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-72503\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-86890\" src=\"http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Norfolk-NATO-Command-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"676\" height=\"384\" srcset=\"http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Norfolk-NATO-Command-2.jpg 676w, http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Norfolk-NATO-Command-2-300x170.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 676px) 100vw, 676px\" \/>On 28 May 2021, the North Atlantic Council approved the nomination of General Philippe Lavigne, French Air and Space Force, to the post of Supreme Allied Commander Transformation. General Lavigne is currently serving as the French Air and Space Force Chief of Staff. General Lavigne will assume the appointment as successor to General Andr\u00e9 Lanata, French Air and Space Force, at a change of command ceremony at the Headquarters of Supreme Allied Command Transformation in Norfolk, Virginia in September 2021. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nato.int\/cps\/en\/natohq\/news_184327.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Source<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>As any engaged citizen might ask, where was President Donald Trump when all this was going on in 2018?<\/p>\n<p>By July 2019, NATO\u2019s newest operational command at Norfolk was created as part of the Alliance\u2019s command structure adaptation and serves as the first NATO headquarters dedicated to the Atlantic Ocean since 2003.\u00a0 Its assigned mission was to protect the Strategic Lines of Communication across all domains, protect sea-lanes between Europe and North America and enable the reinforcement of Europe, as necessary.<\/p>\n<p>On\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.upi.com\/Defense-News\/2020\/09\/17\/NATO-opens-new-Atlantic-Command-at-Norfolk-Va\/6381600363337\/\">September 17, 2020<\/a>, six weeks before the 2020 Presidential election, Royal Navy Rear Admiral Andrew Betton, Deputy Commander of the Joint Force Command Norfolk and US Vice Admiral Andrew Lewis, Commander of the Command, cut the ribbon during the Initial Operational Capability ceremony at NATO\u2019s New Norfolk Command Center. \u00a0Neither President Trump nor any representative from his Administration were in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>On October 16, 2020,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/brassballs.blog\/home\/pentagon-surrenders-nato-norfolk-naval-base-home-enforce-mandatory-lockdowns-supreme-allied-commander-human-bill-rights-bachelet-michelle-covid-boosters-atlantic-north-council-philippe-lavigne\">seventeen days<\/a>\u00a0before the 2020 election, the City of Norfolk unveiled a new sign at its arrival airport terminal which read \u201cWelcome to Norfolk \u2013 NATO\u2019s Home in North\u00a0 America\u201d. By that date, the US Navy\u2019s base in Norfolk became known as home to both NATO-Allied Command Transformation (ACT) and the Joint Force Command Norfolk (JFC).\u00a0 \u00a0Hundreds of civilian and military personnel representing over 30 Member NATO countries had already relocated to Norfolk area.<\/p>\n<p>On\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nato.int\/cps\/en\/natohq\/news_184327.htm\">May 28, 2021<\/a>, the North Atlantic Council approved the nomination of General Phillippe Lavigne, French Air and Space Force, as Supreme Allied Commander Transformation at the Norfolk base.<\/p>\n<p>On June 4, 2021,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.upi.com\/Defense-News\/2021\/06\/04\/NATO-Stoltenberg-summit\/9101622826579\/\">NATO<\/a>\u00a0Chief\u00a0<strong>Jens Stoltenberg<\/strong>\u00a0called for more investment from members of the Alliance and adherence to NATO\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nato.int\/nato2030\/\">2030 agenda<\/a>\u00a0issued in 2020 \u201cmaking sure [that] NATO remains strong militarily, becomes even stronger politically and takes a \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nato.int\/nato_static_fl2014\/assets\/pdf\/2021\/6\/pdf\/2106-factsheet-nato2030-en.pdf\">more global approach.<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On July 15, 2021, with little public fanfare or awareness, the Allied Joint Force Command Norfolk declared its NATO base at Norfolk to be at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nato.int\/cps\/en\/natohq\/news_185870.htm\">Full Operational Capability<\/a>.\u00a0 During a ceremony on board the USS Kearsarge which was largely a formality since NATO\u2019s presence\u00a0 achieved\u00a0<em>initial<\/em>\u00a0operational capability in September, 2020 \u2013\u00a0<strong>less than two months prior to the 2020 Presidential election.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to Vice Adm. Lewis who leads the US Second Fleet and the JFC Norfolk, its NATO mission is in response to increased Russian submarine activity in the Atlantic, increased military traffic including Chinese warships cruising the Aleutian Islands and an interest in securing the Atlantic Ocean\u2019s sea-lanes between Europe and North America.<\/p>\n<p>Also in attendance on the Kearsarge was Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/naval\/2021\/07\/15\/as-nato-command-in-norfolk-reaches-full-standup-milley-warns-of-ongoing-need-for-alliance-to-prevent-great-power-war\/\">Mark Milley<\/a>, now revealed as an insurrectionist, \u00a0who gave a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/naval\/2021\/07\/15\/as-nato-command-in-norfolk-reaches-full-standup-milley-warns-of-ongoing-need-for-alliance-to-prevent-great-power-war\/\">twenty minute dissertation<\/a>\u00a0during which he never once mentioned the word \u2018peace.\u201d \u00a0Obviously aware of the imminent NATO-Norfolk union, and as the President\u2019s Chief military advisor, did General Milley ever inform President Trump of NATO\u2019s move to Norfolk or that he would be attending the ceremony to celebrate NATO\u2019s operational status at what was once the US Norfolk Naval Base.<\/p>\n<p>As Milley described it,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt\u2019s the mission of this command to fight the Battle of the Atlantic in the event of armed conflict, these will be the admirals in charge of a Battle for the Atlantic. \u2026 I would tell you that the survival of NATO, the success or failure in combat in a future war in Europe, would largely depend on the success or failure of this command.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Again, President Trump\u2019s absence is noted and alarming, given that we now know of Milley\u2019s penchant to assume decision-making which he has no authority to assume and without informing his Commander in Chief.\u00a0\u00a0 Or was Trump asleep at the wheel or the victim of his own flawed official appointments \u2013 too many of whom were less than loyal to their President?<\/p>\n<p>Most importantly, what are the implications of NATO\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/digitalcommons.law.uga.edu\/cgi\/viewcontent.cgi?referer=&amp;httpsredir=1&amp;article=1253&amp;context=gjicl\">Article 5<\/a> with its roots now entangled into the American land mass?\u00a0 Infamous on its own, Article 5 dates back to 1949 and provides that<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c..if a\u00a0NATO Ally\u00a0is the\u00a0victim of an armed attack, each and every other member of the Alliance will consider this act of violence as an armed attack against all members and will take the actions it deems necessary to assist the Ally attacked.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The only time Article 5 has ever been\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.europeaninstitute.org\/index.php\/20-european-affairs\/fall-2001\/629-natos-article-5-the-conditions-for-a-military-and-a-political-coalition\">invoked<\/a>\u00a0was immediately after the 911 attack on the Twin Towers in NYC which potentially could have committed NATO troops to participate in the US-led attack on Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead, what role might Article 5 play if the current Covid-vaccination-passport debate\u00a0 reaches an insoluble threshold within any Member nation or could NATO legitimately claim its Article 5 authority to intercede to protect the
