Move To Sunshine State After Vaccine Mandate Closures<\/h1>\n<p><!--more-->By Jack Phillips<br \/>\nThe Epoch Times<\/p>\n<p>Florida\u2019s\u00a0Chief Financial Officer, Jimmy Patronis, suggested that\u00a0In-N-Out Burger should move to the Sunshine State after several In-N-Out locations were shut down by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-california\">California<\/a>\u00a0officials.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"caption caption-img inline-images image-style-inline-images\" role=\"group\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/GettyImages-1025340204-700x420.jpg?itok=Kzph6-l0\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"300\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"a5f62e69-1656-4cd0-b8a7-d251281ddaa8\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><figcaption><em>An In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Alhambra, Calif<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"Advert_desktop__1J5vD Advert_tablet__3QEBr Advert_mobile__1rlLc Advert_placement__1I4yb Advert_align__N0_fw\"><\/div>\n<p>Patronis appealed to In-N-Out CEO Lunsi Snyder to move to the state, arguing that Florida has a superior business climate\u2014noting the state has no personal income tax, low corporate taxes, and no mandates.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI\u2019m writing you today not only as Florida\u2019s Chief Financial Officer, but as a small business owner who grew up in a family-owned restaurant and worked there for more than 30 years,\u201d his letter\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.clickorlando.com\/news\/local\/2021\/10\/25\/florida-is-for-winners-state-cfo-urges-in-n-out-burger-to-open-in-the-sunshine-state\/\">reads<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know how hard it is to turn a profit and make payroll on a good day, let alone when your own government is working to crush your business with absurd mandates.\u00a0<strong>Once I heard the news of your shutdown for refusing to act as \u2018vaccine police,\u2019 I knew I had to reach out immediately.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It came as health officials in Contra Costa County, Calfornia,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/california-in-n-out-shut-down-permanently-for-refusing-to-check-customers-vaccination-status_4071086.html\">shut down another In-N-Out Burger location<\/a>\u00a0for allowing indoor dining without checking customers for proof of vaccination, coming after a location was closed in nearby San Francisco for a similar reason.<\/p>\n<p>Contra Costa County District 1 Supervisor John Gioia claimed that In-N-Out\u2019s staff in\u00a0Pleasant Hill \u201chave just flouted the law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was other residents who complained about them,\u201d he told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abc7news.com\/in-n-out-pleasant-hill-owner-vaccine-san-francisco\/11170802\/\">ABC7<\/a>. \u201cThat is why the health department followed up and issued fines.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Contra Costa Environmental Health said in a news release the commercial food permit for the Pleasant Hill location was suspended Tuesday\u00a0\u201cfor creating a public health hazard by repeatedly violating a county health order intended to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite repeated notices of violation and fine, this business continued to permit indoor dining on site without verifying the COVID-19 vaccination status or recent, negative test result of customers,\u201d the press release from Contra Costa health officials also said.<\/p>\n<p>The restaurant chain, which has numerous locations across the West Coast, said its staff will not check the vaccination status of customers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reason for the closure is that In-N-Out Associates were not actively demanding vaccine documentation and photo identification from each dine-in Customer before serving them,\u201d In-N-Out Chief legal officer Arnie Wensinger said in a statement to local media after the Contra Costa location was closed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe refuse to become the vaccination police for any government,\u201d he added. \u201cIt is unreasonable, invasive, and unsafe to force our restaurant Associates to segregate Customers into those who may be served and those who may not, whether based on the documentation they carry, or any other reason.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wensinger continued to say that the chain doesn\u2019t agree \u201cwith any government dictate that forces a private company to discriminate against customers who choose to patronize their business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The move comes about two weeks after another In-N-Out Burger in San Francisco\u2019s Fisherman Warf was closed down for allowing indoor dining without having its staff check whether they\u2019re vaccinated or not.
