With war always a popular gambit to rescue a President\u2019s plunging poll numbers, the proposed war in Ukraine serves multiple purposes for Biden\u2019s dreary administration:\u00a0 <\/span>as a desperate gamble to save his own political butt, to divert attention from the struggle over its unraveling Covid strategy and destabilizing its arch-enemy Russia is always a worthy past time. \u00a0 <\/span>Yet the drama to escalate military action in Ukraine with \u2018heightened preparedness\u201d of a token\u00a0 <\/span>8,500 American troops lacks the persuasive spectacle of a first rate global crisis as once reliable US allies are not on board even before the first shot is fired. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The current US\u00a0 <\/span>\u2018disinformation\u2019 campaign alleging Russian aggression is nothing new to Ukraine. \u00a0 <\/span>We have seen this game before.\u00a0 <\/span>It is a rekindled version of the US State Department-led overthrow of democratically elected Ukrainian president Viktor Yankovych in February, 2014. \u00a0 <\/span>By refusing to accept NATO membership which would have put a vast array of military missiles and weapons within spitting distance of mainland Russia, across the Kerch Strait<\/span><\/a> to the Russian border, Yankovych\u2019s presidency was doomed. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Think of it as akin to having Russian ballistic missiles located in Havana, Cuba<\/span><\/a> in October, 1962 ninety miles off the Florida coast. \u00a0 <\/span>In protecting US sovereignty, JFK was willing to risk world peace to have those foreign missiles removed. \u00a0 <\/span>Yet Putin is not allowed the same protection of Russia\u2019s border from NATO\u2019s on going strategy of eastern expansion. \u00a0 <\/span>If JFK was unwilling to live with foreign missiles pointed at the US mainland, why should Russia be forced to experience that same threat?\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n In 2013, after Yankovych rejected a European Union trade deal unfavorable to Ukraine, Noble Peace\u00a0 <\/span>prize winner Obama sent a low-level State Department official Victoria Nuland<\/span><\/a> to Kiev to sponsor street protests and\u00a0 <\/span>orchestrate an unprovoked attack on\u00a0 <\/span>Russia with the takedown of Yankovych.\u00a0 <\/span>Nuland\u2019s neo-con<\/span><\/a> role became obvious with her infamous \u2018Fuck the EU\u2019 comment while she and then US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt were strategizing how to finangle their choice for Prime Minister as they muscled Yankovych out of the Presidency.\u00a0 <\/span>Three weeks later, he fled for his life to Russia.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Among the false narratives being portrayed today by an obedient media who habitually distort the history is that Russia \u2018invaded\u2019 Ukraine in 2014, that it illegally seized the Crimean peninsula and are now coming back to seal the deal with a full scale invasion. \u00a0 <\/span>The fantasy spun by a deceitful US media and a warped foreign policy establishment is not even close to the truth. \u00a0 <\/span>There was no Russian invasion into Ukraine in 2014 and in that same year, Crimea residents voted an overwhelming 95% majority in a referendum\u00a0 <\/span>to return the peninsula to Russia.\u00a0 <\/span>In 1783, Empress Catherine the Great annexed the Crimean peninsula to Russia as part of her shrewd\u00a0 <\/span>agenda to accumulate valuable ports throughout the Black Sea.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n After several years of British and US Navy destroyers flaunting their presence in the Black Sea<\/span><\/a>, sailing through the Bosporus, thumbing its nose at Russian sovereignty, the US renewed its demand for NATO to increase its military presence along Ukraine\u2019s eastern Russian-speaking border.\u00a0 <\/span>In response, Russia has a significant troop presence at the border as the US interpreted the Russian response as \u2018aggression\u2019 and sure sign of an imminent invasion.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n As part of the diplomatic crisis game, the US\u00a0 <\/span>announced its withdrawal of US embassy personnel from Ukraine, EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell declared<\/span><\/a> \u201cWe are not going to do the same thing.\u00a0 <\/span>You have to stay calm\u2026. and avoid a nervous breakdown.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n At the same time, Croatian President Zoran Milosvic<\/span><\/a> announced he would not allow his troops to participate in any conflict as Bulgaria also agreed to not participate in any armed conflict.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cNot only will we not send the military, but if there is an escalation, we will recall every last Croatian military man,\u201d<\/i> Milanovic said. \u201cThis has nothing to do with Ukraine or Russia, it has to do with the dynamics of American domestic politics.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n In addition, Ukraine Defense Minister Aleksey Resnikov in Kiev confirmed that \u201cRussian Armed Forces have not formed a strike force that would suggest that they will go on an offensive tomorrow,\u201d<\/i> he said as well as rejecting suggestions that Moscow will invade the day the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics end.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cAs of today, there is no such threat.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n In addition NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg indicated that no NATO combat<\/span><\/a> troops will be sent to Ukraine although he would not back off its expansion plans\u00a0 <\/span>along the Russian border.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n While France and Spain have made minimal commitments, Germany, Europe\u2019s largest<\/span><\/a> and richest country has yet to embrace NATO\u2019s military\u00a0 <\/span>agenda of unspecified\u00a0 <\/span>Russian \u201caggression\u201d threatening to split the European Union.\u00a0 <\/span>In part, as Europe\u2019s main supplier of natural gas,
