Award-winning actress\/comedian\/author Whoopi Goldberg, co-host of ABC-TV\u2019s The View, has been suspended for two weeks for a minor slip-up (Monday, January 31) regarding the Holocaust. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, some of her Jewish accusers have been guilty of far worse \u2014 including genocide denial\/diminishment \u2014 although mainstream corporate media have rarely reported that fact.<\/span><\/p>\n

Born Caryn Elaine Johnson in NY City in 1955 to Black parents, Goldberg has no Jewish ancestors but merely feels<\/i> Jewish.\u00a0 <\/span>She invented her name.<\/span><\/p>\n

While The View was discussing the Holocaust, Goldberg interjected that it wasn\u2019t about\u00a0\u201crace\u201d since both Germans and Jews were \u201cWhite.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/i>It was \u201cabout man\u2019s inhumanity to man.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Co-host Joy Behar \u2014 an Italian Catholic with two Jewish husbands and a Hadassah Woman of the Year award \u2014 justifiably disagreed<\/span><\/a>: Nazis considered Jews a \u201cdifferent race.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

American Jews and non-Jews, plus organizations such as the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and American Jewish Committee (AJC), swiftly, and sometimes harshly, criticized Goldberg.\u00a0 <\/span>Some want her fired<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Goldberg Acknowledges and Apologizes<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On the following day\u2019s The View, Goldberg acknowledged her slip-up and apologized:<\/span><\/p>\n

The Holocaust \u201cis indeed about race because Hitler and the Nazis considered Jews to be an inferior race \u2026 I regret my comments.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Nevertheless, fellow Black and ABC News President Kimberly Godwin suspended Goldberg for two weeks to \u201ctake time to reflect and learn.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Who led the stampede against Goldberg?\u00a0 <\/span>Jonathan Greenblatt (ADL\u2019s CEO\/National Director) and David Harris (AJC\u2019s longtime CEO).<\/span><\/p>\n

Holocaust Hypocrisy\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Nazis saw Jews as an \u201cinferior race,\u201d tweeted Greenblatt.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cHolocaust distortion is dangerous.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>He also guested on Tuesday\u2019s (Feb. 1) The View.<\/span><\/p>\n

Harris tweeted, \u201cGoldberg absurdly claims the #Holocaust \u2018isn\u2019t about race\u2019.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>Jews were considered a \u201csubhuman race.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cPlease rethink & apologize.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Yet for decades the ADL and AJC colluded with Turkey and Israel<\/span><\/a> to deny or diminish the Armenian Genocide committed<\/span><\/a> by Turkey (1915-1923) and to defeat Congressional resolutions on that Genocide.\u00a0 <\/span>No one disputes that.<\/span><\/p>\n

William Parsons<\/a><\/span>, the late<\/span><\/a> U.S. Holocaust Museum\u2019s Chief of Staff, personally told me that the ADL stealthily opposed Armenian Genocide recognition.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Showdown Set in \u2018Genocide\u2019 Debate<\/a><\/span> by Rebecca Spence (Jewish Daily Forward, September 1, 2006) contains this damning boast:<\/span><\/p>\n

Some Jewish groups claim credit for ensuring that such a [Armenian Genocide] resolution never passes.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Jewish advocacy groups, including the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs [Jinsa], the American Israel Public Affairs Committee [AIPAC], B\u2019nai Brith and American Jewish Committee [AJC] \u201chave been working with the Turks on this issue\u201d for more than 15 years, said Yola Habif Johnston, director for foundations and community outreach at Jinsa.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Jewish lobby has quite actively supported Turkey in their efforts to prevent the so-called Armenian genocide resolution from passing.\u201d<\/i>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

In early 2007, veteran Los Angeles Times writer Mark Arax<\/span><\/a>, an Armenian American, penned an article documenting the ADL\u2019s anti-Armenian policies.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, Managing Editor Douglas Frantz decided that an Armenian couldn\u2019t be objective about the ADL.\u00a0 <\/span>So he assigned the task to Jewish writer Richard Simon.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Simon<\/a><\/span> gutted<\/span><\/a> Arax\u2019s research and deleted incriminating<\/span><\/a> statements by the ADL\u2019s then National Director Abe Foxman, including:<\/span><\/p>\n
