The left-right paradigm was always dubious as a way to describe the Western political dichotomy. Given what modern \u201cLeftism\u201d entails, it\u2019s even more irrelevant now.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a basic definition of \u201cLeftist\u201d ideology<\/a> that, once upon a time, characterized many aspects of leftist politics in the early-to-mid-20th<\/sup> century:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe portion of the political spectrum associated in general with\u00a0egalitarianism\u00a0and popular\u2026 control of the major institutions<\/u><\/strong> of political and economic life\u2026 Leftists tend to be hostile to the interests of traditional elites<\/u><\/strong>, including the wealthy and members of the\u00a0aristocracy, and to favour the interests of the working class<\/u><\/strong>.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What a difference a few decades of corporate capture makes!<\/p>\n

What sort of egalitarian, hostile-to-elite-interests<\/em> positions does the modern Western left take?<\/p>\n

Does the \u2018Left\u2019 safeguard Constitutionally-guaranteed free speech? <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Nope!<\/p>\n

The liberal coast elites are panicked at the possibility of free speech erupting on social media, or anywhere else. Watch them meltdown over the possibility of \u2013 clutch the pearls!<\/em> \u2013 an open speech platform in the digital public square where non-blue-check dissenters don\u2019t get arbitrarily purged for \u201chatespeech\u201d:<\/p>\n
