The\u00a0Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System<\/b>\u00a0(VAERS<\/b>) is a United States program for\u00a0vaccine<\/a>\u00a0safety, co-managed by the U.S.\u00a0Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a>\u00a0(CDC) and the\u00a0Food and Drug Administration<\/a>\u00a0(FDA).[1]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0VAERS is a\u00a0postmarketing surveillance<\/a>\u00a0program, collecting information about\u00a0adverse events<\/a>\u00a0(possible harmful\u00a0side effects<\/a>) that occur after administration of vaccines to ascertain whether the\u00a0risk\u2013benefit ratio<\/a>\u00a0is high enough to justify continued use of any particular vaccine.<\/p>\n
