Federal agents gave bizarre new details about the\u00a0attack<\/a>\u00a0on Nancy Pelosi\u2019s husband Paul in the timeline they set out in charging documents for\u00a0David DePape<\/a>, alleging that the man intended to take a nap after tying up Nancy Pelosi\u2019s husband.<\/p>\n DePape, the crazed man who allegedly broke into the Pelosi residence and attacked Paul with a hammer, was hit with federal charges for attempted kidnapping and assault on Monday.<\/p>\n The 42-year-old alleged attacker told San Francisco cops he broke into the Pelosi mansion through a glass door using a hammer he brought with him.<\/p>\n He went upstairs, finding Paul Pelosi asleep in his bedroom. DePape woke him up, saying that he had come for his\u00a0wife<\/a>. The speaker of the House was in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n \u201cPelosi responded that she was not present. Pelosi asked how they could resolve the situation, and DePape wanted to do,\u201d according to the doc. \u201cDePape stated he wanted to tie Pelosi up so DePape could go to sleep, as he was tired from having had to carry a backpack to the Pelosi residence.\u201d<\/p>\n DePape then said he remembered, \u201ctaking out twist ties from his pocket so that he could restrain Pelosi.\u201d<\/p>\n The document said that \u201cPelosi moved towards another part of the house, but DePape stopped him and together they went back into the bedroom.\u201d<\/p>\n The two men conversed and Pelosi went to the bathroom, where he was able to secretly\u00a0call<\/a>\u00a0the police. DePape realized what was happening not long after, saying in his interview with police that he \u201cfelt like Pelosi\u2019s actions compelled him to respond.<\/p>\n \u201cDePape remembered thinking that there was no way the police were going to forget about the phone call,\u201d the document said.<\/p>\n The alleged attacker later told police more than once that \u201che did not leave after Pelosi\u2019s call to 911 because, much like the American founding fathers with the British, he was fighting against tyranny without the option of surrender.\u201d<\/p>\n When police arrived and knocked on the door, Pelosi and DePape had already gone downstairs. Pelosi rushed to open the door.<\/p>\n \u201cPelosi grabbed onto DePape\u2019s hammer, which was in DePape\u2019s hand. At this point in the interview, DePape repeated that [he] did not plan to surrender and that he would go \u2018through\u2019 Pelosi.\u201d<\/p>\n It was then he began beating Pelosi with the hammer, fracturing his\u00a0skull<\/a>\u00a0in the process, police said. Pelosi has since had surgery on his skull. DePape later claimed that Pelosi was \u201ctaking the punishment instead\u201d of his wife.<\/p>\n Police were witness to the attack, the documents reveal. \u201cPelosi and DePape were both holding a hammer with one hand and DePape had his other hand holding onto Pelosi\u2019s forearm. Pelosi greeted the officers,\u201d the documents outlined. \u201cThe officers asked them what was going on. DePape responded that everything was good. Officers then asked Pelosi and DePape to drop the hammer.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cDePape pulled the hammer from Pelosi\u2019s hand and swung it, striking Pelosi in the head,\u201d the documents allege. \u201cOfficers immediately went inside and were able to restrain DePape \u2026 Pelosi appeared to be unconscious on the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n DePape said he was targeting Pelosi for being the \u201c\u2019leader of the pack\u2019 of lies told by the Democratic Party\u201d and he wanted to break her kneecaps to show that her actions had consequences, according to the documents.<\/p>\n Pelosi remains in the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center. He underwent surgery on his skull and has been visited by family members and is expected to make a full recovery. DePape was also taken to hospital after the attack under police custody.<\/p>\n
