NDAA HIDES KEY LEGISLATION IN DANGEROUS Portman-Murphy Counter-Propaganda Bill PASSED BY SENATE<\/span><\/b>

The U.S. Senate quietly passed the Countering Information Warfare Act of 2016 on Thursday, using the\u00a0National Defense Authorization Act to conceal strong legislation against the public.<\/span><\/p>\n

S. 2692<\/a>, \u00a0the\u00a0\u201cCountering Disinformation And Propaganda Act\u201d by Portman\/Murphy Bill would \u201cestablish an inter-agency center housed at the State Department to coordinate and synchronize counter-propaganda efforts throughout the U.S. government.\u201d<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

To further support these efforts, the bill would also \u201ccreate a grant program for NGOs, think tanks, civil society and other experts outside government who are engaged in counter-propaganda related work.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Center will be led by the State Department, but with the active senior level participation of the Department of Defense, USAID, the Broadcasting Board of Governors, the Intelligence Community, and other relevant agencies.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This means that the government would be fully in charge of running the media\u2014not that they don\u2019t do that already (Example:\u00a0sending press packages to journalists<\/a>). The second part of the bill\u00a0would make it legal to \u00a0give the same agencies running the \u201ccounter propaganda\u201d part of the bill authorization to label\u00a0which media organizations are \u201cpropaganda.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In other words, the act would further strip away the Freedom of the Press<\/u><\/b> that is protected by the First Amendment, and would set the stage for future witch hunts and website shutdowns<\/b><\/u>, purely based off of accusations with no due process.<\/span><\/p>\n

No judge, no jury, just Orwellian censorship of \u201cdisinformation and propaganda.\u201d Meanwhile, the U.S. government will freely spread its propaganda unhinged, I guarantee it.<\/span><\/p>\n

The bill would also provides grants and funds for NGO\u2019s and think tanks like Propornot. It was featured in a\u00a0fraudulent libelous article<\/a>\u00a0that has since been retracted by the Washington Post, which was perfect timed along with the consideration of this bill.<\/span><\/p>\n
