A whistleblower leaked a document to\u00a0Project Veritas<\/a>\u00a0showing that the FBI is focusing on election misinformation ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. The document lists what the agency should categorize as \u201celection crimes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among the election crimes highlighted in the documents is \u201cmisinformation.\u201d The document defines misinformation as \u201cfalse or misleading information spread mistakenly or unintentionally.\u201d<\/p>\n

Disinformation is also an apparent election \u201ccrime,\u201d and is defined as \u201cfalse or inaccurate information intended to mislead others.\u201d It adds: \u201cDisinformation campaigns on social media are used to deliberately confuse, trick, or upset the public.\u201d<\/p>\n

The document appears to be another effort by the federal government to determine what is true and what is false. A few months ago, the Biden administration created the \u201cDisinformation Governance Board<\/a>\u201d under the DHS. It\u00a0dismantled<\/a>\u00a0it a few weeks later due to public backlash.<\/p>\n

The FBI document lists things to consider, including the 1st and 4th Amendments, the Privacy Act, and protected vs. unprotected speech.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
