December 21, 2022<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Dear Senate Republican Colleagues,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n As you know, yesterday at 1:30a.m., the text of the Democrat-led omnibus appropriations package was <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>released, and it confirmed what we already knew to be true \u2013 this bill is a full-scale assault on the American <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>people. This 4,155-page bill spends $1.7 trillion to further empower the Biden administration\u2019s tyrannical <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>attack on the liberty and security of our constituents, and it must be opposed with any fiber of political <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>fortitude Senate Republicans still have. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Once again, we urge Senate Republicans to use every tool possible to kill this bill. Failure to do so will <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>result in not only legislative and political consequences, but irrevocable consequences for our nation. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This omnibus will undeniably continue the Washington status quo that Americans are fed up with. It will <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>fuel the rampant inflation that is cutting into Americans\u2019 paychecks. It will add to our $31 trillion national <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>debt, digging a deeper hole for our children and grandchildren to crawl out of. And because almost every <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Senate Republican has bloviated about inflation and the national debt at some point in the past two years,<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>a vote for this bill should be viewed as a blatant display of hypocrisy.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n As expected, the bill <\/span>increases <\/span><\/i>funding for President Biden\u2019s bureaucrats and wholly fails to impose<\/span> meaningful checks on his radical agenda. It increases funding for an FBI that is colluding with big tech to <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>suppress free speech, labeling parents as domestic terrorists, and targeting pro-life Americans. It gives <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>more money to the NIH, CDC, FDA, and other agencies that are actively conspiring with big healthcare to<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>our detriment. It increases funding for a State Department that failed in its basic function to get Americans <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>out of Afghanistan while funding things like drag shows in foreign countries. It further empowers EPA <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and other agencies to wage war on reliable US energy. And it provides another $45 billion for Ukraine <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>while failing to hold the Pentagon brass accountable for promoting the woke ideology that is gutting the <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>culture of our Armed Forces.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n But perhaps most offensively, for at least nine months, this omnibus will deny the incoming House GOP <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>majority any leverage to enact crucial policy changes needed to secure our border through the power of the <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>purse. And not only does this bill disregard actual border security, it also doubles down by providing DHS<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>with an additional $3.2 billion to continue processing and releasing illegal migrants at a faster pace and <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>larger scale, which will only make this crisis worse. With this bill, the American people will endure at least <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>nine more months of record fentanyl overdoses, surging migrant crossings, rampant cartel activity, property <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>destruction, and migrant deaths. A vote in favor of this bill is a vote for every bit of it, and it will solidify <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Senate Republicans\u2019 role in perpetuating this crisis. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n On Monday, the Senate Republican leader inexplicably called this bill \u201ca strong outcome for Republicans.\u201d<\/span> We wholly disagree \u2013 this bill completely contradicts everything the Republican party claims it stands for. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>We have a duty to stand up for Americans and put an end to the border crisis. We have a duty to use the\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n power of the purse to stop the Biden administration\u2019s radical agenda. And we have a duty to stand athwart <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the rampant government spending that has caused crushing inflation. Voting in favor of this bill is a <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>dereliction of our duty on all counts. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The released legislative text confirmed this omnibus is an assault on the American people. As such, we <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>reiterate that <\/span>if any omnibus passes in the remaining days of this Congress, we will oppose and whip\u00a0 opposition to any legislative priority of those senators who vote for its passage \u2013 including the Republican\u00a0 leader. We will oppose any rule, any consent request, suspension voice vote, or roll call vote of any such\u00a0 Senate bill, and will otherwise do everything in our power to thwart even the smallest legislative and policy\u00a0 efforts of those senators.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Again, we must stop the assault on Texans and the American people.
