The two agencies\u2019 responses to the curious case of their former person of interest, identified in photo No 16 in an FBI list of people whom the feds wanted to identify, provided more fodder for speculation after the select committee investigating the January 6 riot outright denied he was a federal agent or informant.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. Epps informed us that he was not employed by, working with, or acting at the direction of any law enforcement agency on January 5th or 6th or at any other time, and that he has never been an informant for the FBI or any other law enforcement agency,\u201d a select committee spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

The statement came after the FBI and Justice Department leadership refused to confirm or deny, under oath, whether Mr Epps was working with federal authorities or whether they knew why he hasn\u2019t been charged in connection to the violence.<\/p>\n

Mr. Epps has become the latest flashpoint in the battle for narrative control over writing and rewriting the cause and consequences of the 2021 riot at the US Capitol.<\/p>\n

To the right, Mr Epps has been cast as a \u201cfed-protected provocateur\u201c based mostly on his disappearance from the FBI\u2019s most-wanted list without charge despite appearing in multiple videos on January 5 and 6.<\/p>\n

To the left, he is a central figure in an attempt to reframe the attack as a false flag \u201cFedsurrection\u201d that is little more than a conspiracy theory to shift blame away from Donald Trump and his supporters.<\/p>\n

Mr. Epps said in his January deposition before the committee that he booked his trip to Washington at the last minute to accompany his son at planned rallies protesting the election results after his wife raised concerns about his safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy wife found out that Jim was going, and she insisted that I go because there was a lot of hype,\u201d Mr. Epps said, according to transcripts released by the committee Thursday. \u201cThere was a lot of stuff going on at the time, so she was worried for his safety, and so we decided to make arrangements so that I could be there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ray Epps lied under oath and new text messages confirm that he even orchestrated the riots in the Capitol!<\/p>\n

On the afternoon of January 6, Ray Epps texted his nephew about the events at the Capitol: \u201cI was in the front with a few others. I also orchestrated it.\u201d<\/p>\n

And we wonder we he was never charged and why he\u2019s the only person whom Kinzinger and Cheney will defend.<\/p>\n

RayEpps, in his J6 committee testimony, claimed that he was only trying to protect the police when, on the night of J5, he publicly advocated for people to go into the Capitol.<\/p>\n

The J6 committee and Cheney and Kinzinger were never after the truth or the bad guys.<\/p>\n

They were after Trump.<\/p>\n

To put a fine point to it, THEY are the bad guys.<\/p>\n

They should be charged as an accessory. They protected him.<\/p>\n

This questioning happened Jan 2022.<\/p>\n

The interviewer says this is the 2nd time they talked, and they would \u201cgo over a lot of the same topics that we went through from November\u201d.<\/p>\n

Why a 2nd interview on the same issues? Why release this transcript? What does the 1st one contain?<\/p>\n

Mr. Epps was briefly listed on the FBI\u2019s list of individuals wanted for questioning in connection with the riot before his name was later removed without explanation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
