House Speaker\u00a0Kevin McCarthy\u00a0<\/strong>(R-CA) released a statement defending former President\u00a0Donald Trump<\/strong>\u00a0against a potential indictment from the Manhattan district attorney.<\/p>\n

In an\u00a0all-caps message<\/a>\u00a0to his Truth Social followers on Saturday, Trump predicted a potential arrest on Tuesday and told his followers to \u201cprotest\u201d and to \u201ctake our nation back.\u201d The message set off a number of red flags. A spokesperson for the president later said there is \u201cno indication\u201d except for leaks to the media that Trump will be arrested.<\/p>\n

Reports this week indicated Manhattan District Attorney\u00a0Alvin Bragg<\/strong>\u00a0is preparing to indict the former president over alleged hush payments to\u00a0Stormy Daniels<\/strong>\u00a0over an alleged affair. Trump has denied any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n

\u201cHere we go again \u2014 an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump,\u201d McCarthy tweeted on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Republican leader also said there will be investigations into the spending of federal funds over the investigations into Trump.<\/p>\n
